Alright, I know I shouldve thrown a much bigger bet at the flop, but other than that can you see any other mistakes I made? Instature had been a calling station all game. God I am awful at ring games.

well, you spotted the biggest problem - need a much bigger bet on the flop (pot size). If you're up against a calling station, though, that might not do you much good, so don't beat yourself up. A check-raise on the flop may also have been a good idea.

On the turn - as others have hammered into me around here: why are you betting? Your only callers when you bet this much have you beat already, so its no gain vs. bigger loss. there's a possible straight, possible over-sets, so I think check-call is perfectly appropriate here.

Same goes for the river - going all-in is either going to have everyone fold, or a better hand call. check, and only call if someone else bets small.

Yes obviously the flop bet was way weak. 4 people in the pot of $1. .80 was not even close to enough. You floped a set, the only way you don't lose alot is if you bet out the draws here. When the king hit and you bet and got 2 callers you might have sniffed out a straight and check/folded the river, but that's hard for even the best players to do since a lot of weaker hands than yours also calls.

Basically, other than betting much more on the flop, you were destined to lose alot here.

This hand is played fine. Sure, an extra 20c would be good on the flop...but basically you played the hand fine

dbitel,

You don't think a bet of $2 or $3 wouldn't be a better option. I know $1 is the pot size but it's still only $1 and pshycologically (sp) almost anything would call for that. The gut shot might call 2 or 3 or might not, there are straight and flush draws out don't you think we need to make sure they are calling wiht bad odds? I agree the rest was inevetable.

We WANT AT to call $1 on teh flop though. And I'd rather get value than chasing out weaker hands

I don't know about $1, but for around $1.50, yeah, we want callers. $3 just shuts out callers who will pay you, but a pot bet (or a little less) allows you to add value greater than the expected payoff if someone hits thie flush/straight. Its a cash game, so as long as they have to pay more than 3:1 odds to see another card, you're winning over time on the +EV scale.
