Last nite we played our home game and a ? come up about a hand...

how should it have been played??????

player 1 had natural ace king ten nine four Flush

player 2 had natural king jack eight five Flush & a wild card he called an ace to equal player 1's natural ace..... he said his jack beat the ten and he won the pot ... was this correct ??? and yes we know this would not be a problem without the wild card.

This sounds like a game of 5 card draw with wild cards to me. But yep your friend was totally correct in this. The Jack does indeed beat the ten, in this case. So player 2 wins the hand.

BTW Why were you using wild cards, i think that they have no place in poker, sure enough it ups the tempo of the game. But some of the hands that arise with wild cards are enough to drive me insane.

If this is 5-card draw with wilds or HE with wilds or any game really the answer is the same.

Wild cards can be used as any card in the deck, even if the actual card is used in another hand...

Player one has a flush: AKT94
Player two has a flush: AKJ85

Player Two wins.
