I'm not sure if this was bad play, or a bad beat.

pokerstars ZOOM $0.05 / $0.10
I'm in BB with TdTs.
Folded around to SB
Villain in SB makes it $0.30 .
I reraise to $0.95
Villian re-raises to $2.00. I call
Flop is 8h9s7d.
Villian bets $2.87 into $4 pot.
With over pair and open ended straight draw I shove re-raising to $10.52.
He goes all in for his remaining $5.39 showing KsKc.
Turn & river of 7c & 5h.

His KK beats my TT.

What, if anything did I do wrong, or what could I have done better?

I would of done same thing. Would like to hear any info on villain but being bvb I don't see how you can necessarily put him on better pair. I'm no expert but I think it's just an unfortunate situation for you that happens. Not much you could do. Def not a badbeat though. You were behind whole way. If you woulda hit str then would of been badbeat for him lol

guess this is a cooler, pair vs pair is a bit light for me to call bad beat.
but the effect is the same.

When he 5 bet your tens are just set mining. You jammed all in with mediocre draw was your mistake.

That was kind of my thinking. I figured he had a large pair, or AKs.

The flop generated too much enthusiasm on my part. I was thinking my shove might convince him I'd either made a set or had the straight. I was assuming I had some fold equity + outs.

Folding pre-flop doesn't seem an option. SB opening range is too big to fold TT.

a) Smaller pre-flop re-raise? Fold when he 4 bet? Did that 4 bet pretty much indicate a larger pair leaving out AKs AQs?

b) smaller pre-flop re-raise? Call 4 bet and small bet on the flop? Did the shove look more like a bluff than a value bet with trips / made straight?
