Guess the Pro

This is a hand which I personaly observed the other day involving a well know poker pro. I was going to post it as is but thought it might be more fun if I let the rest of you try to figure out who the pro is yourselves. Also, I've altered the names of the participants. All I'll say about our pro, lets call him Joe Pro is that he will usually voluntarily enter a pot about 30% of the time but plays agressively when he does, raising preflop about 20% of the time.

In the past 10 minutes Joe Pro had played only about 20% of his hands but had gone from a stack of almost $20,000 down to just under $11,000 mostly due to a big loss with pocket 10's when Bubbasbestbabe flopped trip Queens. This particular hand occured about 5 hands later. Up to this point Joe Pro had not been involved in any big pots with Buckster who was playing a straight forward game but had managed to increase his stack from $4000 to $5000 in a very short time.

So here's the hand.

I've seen Hansen play like a maniac in the last little while on FT...my guess is that it's him.

I've seen him toss his whole stack in as an obvious dog multiple times and my honest opinion is that he's doing this to advertise a really wild image and to set up a run of future winning sessions because I really don't see him tossing his chips around like this for no reason.

Not sure who the shortstack could be though.

I say Mike Matusow, he is also a maniac and likes to push every hand.

I thought it was probably Matusow, for the reasons stated above. He is a maniac, and that all-in move is defintiely in his arsenal (as unadvised as it may be) that's just his style and its worked for him so far.

Juanda is Just as capable

I voted for John Juanda only because out of the 4 people on there, hes the only 1 that seemed out of place....hes not that popular & it just made sense to me to vote 4 him i guess lol.

I'm with Gus on this one!!!

I think Matusow because a) he plays on Full Tilt a lot, b) I've seen him doing this move with KJ on High Stakes Poker, and c) he's very prone to tilt so could have been steaming

Damn, I've been playing too much poker. I don't even remember this.

I've seen Mike Matusow play Omaha almost the same way a couple of times so he would be my first choice.

Gus Hansen

This play has Gus written all over it!

The obvious choice is Gus. So I'm gonna say Allen Cunningham. I've seen him make some aggressive moves at questionable times with questionable cards.

Wow, I'm impressed. I was sure that Mike Matusow would be the hands down favorite. I don't blame those of you who guessed Allen Cunningham or John Juanda either. It's a good bet I would have posted one of their hands just because they would seem to be the most unlikely candidates. But in the end good poker instincts prevailed. Of course, this stinker belongs to the prince of Denmark himself Gus Hansen. What he was thinking I've no idea. It may be as ChuckT said and he was advertising a wild image to set himself up for a big win later, but I'm not sure I like the strategy. if there's anyone in the poker world who needs less help promoting a wild image It's Gus. And lets face it, anyone of us would be too embarrassed to post this for hand analysis, with good reason; we'd be tortured.

Actually this looks like an attempt of stealing a pot that went bad. But who would call with those cards?

That's it, when I make a loose raise and show a hand that could be beat by any two face cards, I'm just settin' up my image. Yeah, image. I'm not a bad poker player. I'm creatin' an image....OR, I just suck at this game.

You are soo right Dogs. Gus really doesn't need to create the wild image, it's been fodder for plenty of poker articles and table chatter for many years. But maybe no one has told ole' Gus.

I picked MM, and if I had ever seen it would think Cunningham is the buckster, but still have not see more than one pro at a table at FTP.
Gus doesn't play decent hands this way.

I picked the underdog because I have no idea. So if I win, I can say "MWAH HA HA HA" to that many more of you losers.

Has to be either matusow or hansen

I've seen Matusow make some strange preflop all-ins there was one he was heads up in a Fulltilt game and out of nowhere he pushes all in (first to act) and he has K7 of hearts his opponent have pocket jacks. he types "lol" and leaves after losing.

Then I've also seen Gus hansen push with some marginal hands like this in cash games on fulltilt. Honestly I think he's bored of Holdem and thats why he does it.

I also remember seeing a video on youtube where Hansen was in a tournament and he went all in preflop with QT and busted out. I was pretty shocked because I couldnt see how you would risk your tournament life on that hand.
