IMHO yes it's a call. I'd really expect to see a ST8 or a flush here.

It's an isnta-call for me, too bad he had 78 or made quads this time.

I would expect a flush also as he quickly called my flop bet and seemed to check the turn pretty quickly which I didn't bet cause I think he would have gone for a check raise here.

Actually I thought you were exercising proper pot control with the ST8 draw since he called your flop bet.

Actually, you're missing what I think is a real likely hand - A7 or K7, possible the high-card a spade. He limps pre-flop from UTG (like weak aces often do), calls the flop with 2nd pair, checks the turn because he didn't improve, and raises the river (if you hit trips, wouldn't you?).

In any case, he didn't play this hand like he had 67/77/78 (two pair or trips before the river) - all of those hands should have bet or raised the flop and/or turn to push out flush draws.

I don't think I can put him on any hand better than yours, so it's a call without any regrets. Most of the likely hands (flush on the turn, flopped straight, or trips on the river) would have played this hand the way he did, so the range I can put him on is beaten by your hand.

I think I played this well, too bad he had the eights. Any chance of mind with the results?

None here. You couldn't specifically put him on 88 and you were beating his range so your decision was still correct.

No change of mind with the results.
It was an insta-call. You're going to win under similar circumstances a majority of the time.
This is just a case where you were destined to lose.

With $.14 in the pot and straight and flush draws out there (with 2 other limpers) I'd have raise more on the flop though. Not that it would have mattered, it was all destined to go in anyway.

Set on set crime is a horrible thing (unless you're the bigger set). The only thing that surprises me here is that all the money didn't go in on the turn.

In these micro stakes these larger bets are very profitable. You can very comfortably overbet the pot on the flop & turn w/o chasing away those that you want to keep around. When you move up to $25NL or higher then adjust to more 'normal' raise sizes.

Insta call. I would expect to come up vs straight/flush FAR more often than an overset. There is no way anybody can get away from a hand like that, unless you have played countless hands with the villain and know his play inside and out.

HOWEVER, that being said, it was played pretty bizzare. Definitely do not check the turn. You could have controlled the pot size alot better, but when you hit a FH on a FD/St8 board, there is no reason at all not to believe you are way ahead.

^^^ I dunno, i think its acceptable to check or bet that turn. You can bet to charge draws, but we may already be beat and the flush draw was just completed, so a check for a free card towards a full house is acceptable

Nope, I would have played it roughly the way you did - it's darn near impossible to put him on a bigger set, because your opponent played the flop very badly. He hits top set, with a 3-card straight AND a flush draw on the board, and he slow-calls with his set. I think he made a terrible play and got lucky that (1) you didn't make a flush on the turn, and (2) that the board paired on the river, allowing him to push.

yep i don't think i was reading the post very well at all...because now that i reread what i said it doesn't make that much sense. I probably didn't pay attention to the fact that the FD was completed on the turn.

I had Ks full of 9s yesterday and lost to quad 9s...some hands there just isn't much you can do to get away from...afterwards you could say "ok maybe i should have just called instead of going all in" but you rarely think that you are FH over FH or quads over FH etc.
