NOW, she claimed that she had 5-7 spades. Here's the conversation I had with the player:

Haopei: A's?
Haopei: weren't you afraid i might have a set of
4's?
DLX3000: 57
DLX3000: y
Haopei: what what did 5-7 make on the board?
DLX3000: s8
Haopei: the flop was 2-4-9
DLX3000: i draw to get a gutshot draw
Haopei: lol ok
Haopei: amusing...but i'm sure you didn't have
5-7 ;)
DLX3000: spades
Haopei: the board was rainbow
Haopei: i think you had 10-10
Haopei: or A's
Haopei: you should tell me the truth, or else i
can't sleep
DLX3000: Dealt to DLX3000 [5s 7s]
Haopei: you re-raised me with a gutshot
straight draw? :O
DLX3000: lol
Haopei: you have some sick read on me?
DLX3000: 2 time u re rais me consecutive
Haopei: i have?
DLX3000: i rep strenght early
Haopei: i have no idea... maybe i had a good
hand when i reraised you before
Haopei: you minimum raised preflop
DLX3000: utg
Haopei: that's not really repping much strength
Haopei: yep i realised it was UTG
DLX3000: have never raised before
DLX3000: i tried to rep AA
Haopei: that's why i asked if you had A's
Haopei: lol
Haopei: apparently, you did a good job

Can she really reraise me with a gutshot straight draw?
Wait a minute, she didn't even had a GUTSHOT straight drawwwww!

why?

serioulsy why are you calling out of position with 6-2?

if it was 4-2 or 6-8 sooted then ok your getting like 4-1 on your call but this is a bad call preflop and you can get yourself in sticky situation like you did.

I always fall for those minimum preflop raises, especially when I am BB.

I don't like the preflop call, you're out of position with a bad hand. You hit bottom pair, no kicker, no draw on the flop, 4 people in the hand. There is a bet ($1.50) and you reraise for $3.50 total. You cant really raise for value with a hand this weak and the bet is too small to push people out. Someone betting into 3 people usually expect to get called and has your hand beat. I've found out that these resteals don't usually work at 10NL and 25NL.

In short, fold preflop, c/f the flop.

You know, i totally didn't realise that she bet into 4 players.

I gotta pay more attention to the game.

Thanks Seneku.

the blinds are where most people lose the most money for a reason.

The pot was relative big to what I had to put in to see the flop. I may be losing a lot of money like this.

But since this is a cash game, isn't it correct to call the preflop min-raise when I'm already in BB?

I agree that I made the wrong post-flop play, but is there anyone who agree that the preflop call was correct?

Preflop, 6s2s has a 17% chance of winning versus 4 random hands. Your pot odds were around 7-1, which is 14%. So on the surface, the math is there.

BUT!!!! The implied odds here are majorly against you.

A) The raise is a sign of strength, which narrows the range of hands the raiser has (no longer random).
B) The raise was from UTG, which narrows that range even more.
C) If you flop a good hand with 62s, the chance is slim that it will hold up through the river. 2 pair or a flush would be very vulnerable.

Anyway, if you want to call with garbage, at least make it something like 68 or J2. While still being very poor hands, the hands they could make have a little bit better chance of holding up to the end. 62 is nothing but trouble, suited or not.

EDIT: Sorry. J2s is only 13% against 4 random hands. But you get the idea. Sheesh.

kinda really really disagree with this, as fun as "jack two off" is to say its a horrible hand to play here. It is too likely you will be dominated preflop here, the 68 I totally agree with though. Id rather have 6-2 then J-2 actually but I would take 4-5 suited over them both.

usually im not cold calling from the big blind ever, I would rather just raise or fold. If you would of had AQ I would fold that pretty easy or raise it in the big blind. BECAUSE your hands are just sooo hard to play from that position and really what do you do if you flop a ace and get raised on the flop? Its just a crappy position you should not let yourself get into.

I actually had this happen the other day, was playing guy and I made a call with AQ in BB and I ended up paying him off when he had AK. It sucked I knew I played it wrong and beat myself up for about a half hour for it.

But isn't that result oriented?

why? most of the time AQ will be dominated by a raiser from early to middle position and being 1st to act in the pot sucks.

take this for instance you are in you game and you call a raise with AQ so now there is $2 in the pot. so you lead about $1.50 and get raised to $4.50 now what do we do. If we fold that would be extremley weak seeing as you got the exact flop you wanted right top pair good kicker but if you call then you are stuck having to check/call all the way down right? its just a really bad spot to be in.

if we had position on the other hand we could assume guy does not have AK because he didnt re-raise us preflop and we could figure our AQ is winning against someone defending with a weak ace. Position is just so important and most of the times more important then the cards you hold.

I don't like the pre-flop call from the BB, even with the pot odds you are getting. Three other people are saying they like their hands as well. This is a clear fold IMO unless you were heads up.
