Previous 3 hands (SB, BTN, CO) have all been folded around to me, I've made my standard raise to $1.75 and taken it down then. What do you do with this hand now that it has been folded around to you again?

Stacks:

* SB with $52.25
* BB with $52.65
* UTG with $69.70
* UTG+1 with $53.00
* MP1 with $57.00
* MP2 with $50.45
* MP3 with $57.95
* CO with $46.50
* BTN with $49.25

Blinds: $0.25/$0.50
Site: full tilt poker
* * Dealt to MP3:9♦ 8♥
* * Sklansky group 7
Preflop:
* * 4 players folded.

Table image problem as I see it.

I would normally fold this after 3 steals. But since you asked, I'll guess this is a hand you want to play with.

A simple call of course, but I think you want to raise here as that seems your style. Are you concerned perhaps about table image and don't want to press LAG over the line into maniac?

R/f would be the other option. But that would just about negate your 3 steals and give you that maniac image you may not want.

So personally, even if I was Lagging it a bit, I would fold this especially in MP3.

Leave the table.... :)

In all seriousness, I raise it up again. You have control over the table, and that's a great great thing! You just need to be able to play smart postflop. Players are going to be looking to trap you in a big way if you're running the action at a table. So don't c-bet absolutely everything & anything. Play a lot of implied odds hands, and take the free cards they're going to give you (either because they're slowplaying a monster or they're afraid of your aggression).

Plus, keep in mind that players will stack off with just top pair against a laggy opponent. Use all this to your advantage.

The only time I don't raise this up again is when the BTN who was in the small blind is an aggressive, smart player who defends his button.

How long have you been at this table? How is your overall image not just the last few hands. If I had only been at the table a few hands and had been this active I'd be more likely to muck this one. If I had been tight overall but just recently active I'd likely raise it up again.

I folded this one. I feel I was getting a lot of respect on my raises in previous hands so my image would have been TAG and I wanted to keep it that way.
