I was holding Aces pre-flop. My opponent had 3d5d - blinds is $1 $2. I raised about $4 and he calls, flopped A64 - rainbow, no flush draw. I raised $8 then he re-raise for about $20, i called. Then the turn comes its a J. He has 8 outs to make the straight. I went all in on the river for $80 then he calls. He got the 7. Damn it what's with my play? Errr

I was doing the right thing but i admire the guts of this guy.

I think there is not much you can do about that. But why are you just calling on the turn and then donk betting (you were out of position right?) the river? This you give him a free card. If you just call you want to slowplay and then you should check river (if he has nothing, he will not call your all in. but if you check, he might bluff the river with nothing) But in the end, you would have put your money in anyway. You can't win every hand..

You should have considered the straight chances but your opponent also risked.

Flop was played ok, but I'd reraise $70 and get it in on the flop or turn depending on how he proceeds with the action.

As played on the flop, always donk-bet 3/4 or full pot the turn. You burned on the river because you expected him to continue with his aggression, but he only wanted a free card on the turn, which you gave him.

So next time, just bet out heavy on the turn. In this spot I always deny them the free card.

you should be wary of the river card,check/call the river but fold against aggression.

Just keep betting on the flop. We have the nuts at that point and someone has reraised which is just perfect. More often than not its a smaller set or AK which we crush and which will pay us off. Then if he stays and a brick like this J arrives we can shove.

You must go for All in after the Turn.
you can't give him a free or cheap card. on the Turn you are stronger than him, push your money and give him to think about call or fold.

I think your preflop raise is too small.

Anyway, postflop is good and we cant do about it. Thats poker.
