I just lost a hand on the river, holding Q♦ 5♦, the other player having K♦ 7♠. Community cards are 10♦ 9♦ A♦ Q♣ 6♦.

What puzzled me is that the other guy won the whole pot. Shouldn't it have been split between me and him? I tought when comparing flushes, only the high card counts... ?

Hi,

The only way two people get a spit pot with Flushes is when the TOP 5 cards in each hand are the same.

I think this is only possible when you are both playing the community cards ....

With a flush the highest card counts first. Then the next highest all the way down to the fifth highest.
Examples:
:ad4: :kd4: :5d4: :4d4: :2d4: beats
:ad4: :qd4: :9d4: :8d4: :7d4: because the highest card ties but the second highest is bigger

or
:ad4: :kd4: :jd4: :4d4: :3d4: beats
:ad4: :kd4: :jd4: :4d4: :2d4: because the four highest cards tie but the fifth is higher.
