Flopping the nuts.

This is my first post in the Hand Analysis Thread.

As you'll see in this hand I flopped the nuts. I always find it difficult to get the most amount of money out of your opponent when you've got an unbeatable hand. I was lucky because my hand was pretty well disguised and my opponent also flopped a strong hand.

I still picked up a decent pot but I felt I could have gotten more. I'd appreciate any comments on how I played this hand as well as suggestions on how I could have gotten more from it.

One note I'll make first, by most accounts T7 is not a connector... Some adhere strictly to cards that are sequential, some allow a gap of 1, but a 2 gap allows only 2 straights to be made so it's not really a connector.

A-ny-way... I think how much you can extract from your opponent, in lower limits, depends a lot more on his hand and a lot less on how you play it.

Here's what I tend to do. I ask myself 2 questions:

(1) What would he think I might have that would scare him? In this case, I think probably a full house or a nut flush (no one would really think about the straight flush). How would that hand bet? Avoid betting like that hand. Meaning, I wouldnt've bet the turn when the full house scare card landed (you didn't), I wouldnt've bet the flop too aggressively (you correctly portrayed an unmade hand), and what's left? Bet the river. If I think he is tight or weak or paying close attention, I min-raise him another $0.50 to get a curiousity call.

(2) What would he think I might have that would not scare him? In this case, maybe 2 high cards or a pocket pair that missed the flop. How can we portray that? With a flush scare on the board, it ain't through aggressive betting. All I'd do here is call, if that. So I don't think we can really convincingly portray a hand he can beat.

Thus, I think you did a great job. Could've bet the river smaller, but maybe 8/10 other people would have called that. Good play overall.

Yeah, I think you made a good play. A smaller bet on the river would have been called maybe, but you want to get paid off.

If you are in this situation again, and the flush card or full boat card hits get your chips in because you will get paid off more than likely.

Only suggestion maybe would have min raised him right off the flop because he probably would have called u.

You couldnt have done much more tbh. You were in position and had the guy betting into you. Perhaps a slightly smaller raise on the river may have gotten a call but I think you got what you could

Nicely played. The only thing better than having the nut hand is getting a lot of chips with the hand.
