I am pretty certain that i was beat by the river, but am wondering if i did everything okay. I don't think he had the flush on the turn but was not sure, so for the sake of pot control i checked

Any tips for the hand?

Hero ($111.85)
UTG ($180.93)

I don't necessarily like bet/folding the turn because have 15 outs a lot of the time. Betting is fine, but if he raises we're not going anywhere.

I do, however, like block-betting the river. Bet $15 and fold if he raises. There's not a ton of value in it, because you can't beat that calls except for AJ. By taking initiative, however, you at least avoid folding a split when he valuebets QT.

As played, you have to call the river. You have completely undersold your hand, and he could bet something as weak as JT for value here. It's clear to your opponent that you don't have a king, at least.

You suggest calling a river bet when i only have one pair on a board like that?

Anyone else recommend that, or something else?

You're getting 8:3 on that call. You need to win 27% of the time to be break-even. Read: He needs to bluff 27% of the time. And this doesn't take into account the times where you chop the pot, which makes it an even easier call.

And the chance that he's bluffing more than one time in four here is waaaay up after you check two streets out of position. He knows you're weak.

Surely he doesn't have the ace of clubs 100% of the time?

Er, perhaps this is the source of the confusion: I meant 13 outs, not 15. And yes, they're tainted, but not enough so that I'm comfortable folding the turn.

And maybe I was being a bit cryptic in my last post. We have the second nut flush draw, is what I'm getting at. Our opponent has the ace of clubs less often than all the time. Therefore, we have the nut flush draw more often than 0% of the time.

Also note that IF he has the ace of clubs, he doesn't have a better hand than us unless he has specifically AcTx or AcXc.

Oh you mean to a flush with the Jc. Didn't notice we had a club. Yeah, I guess a bet/fold is pretty bad there depending on his raise size. But if villain was drawing to a flush (which is a small part of his range, there's way more stuff that can be calling us), we only have 11 outs to beat a flush. 7 flush outs that are dirty, and 4 to a boat.
