Thank you in advance for any critique.

Ring Game. Live @ Casino. 2/5 - NL/HE
Been sitting for 3.5 hours. Played very few hands, probably to the point that most put me as a mouse.

$95 in front of me.
Dealt JJ, 2nd under the gun.
Under the gun, folds. I raise to $15. Call. 5 more folds. Call Call
Flop J 10 9 rainbow.
Afraid of the straight draw I went all in for 80 - all 3 folded. Fine.

So now I have $140.

Very next hand I am under the gun
Dealt JJ (again)
I raise to $15. Call 6 folds Call Call.
Flop 10 J Q rainbow.
I am first to bet after the flop.
Of course, I am afraid of straight draws, and even considered someone might have AK. But, with my modest pre-flop raise and no re-raise, pre flop, I figure chances of someone having a King OR Ace was much better than someone having AK (both). So, to prevent against draws, I went all in. Call, Fold Fold. She (the caller) had AK.

I probably should have raised more, pre-flop - but, (with her AK) I suspect she would have called any reasonable raise - she had called others (earlier) to as much as 5xBB.

Was there a better way to play the 2nd hand? Thanks

The fact that your table image was so tight it was not unreasonable that she just called with AK. She put you on a premium hand.

i'm afraid of a draw so i'll shove so draws fold but straights call. try betting an amount that will get weaker hands to call and maybe better hands to fold. w/these 2 hands don't think there is a way to get a better hand to fold so bet enough to get draws to call but deny them correct odds. w/ a drawy board and being multi way i would bet the size of the pot. the only way i shove is if i think a weaker hand calls me.

If you want feed back on the hands you will get a better response in the HA forum. Otherwise the hands belong in the BBV section.

^^^This. I moved it - but the title is not good since it was not originally posted here.

Raise more preflop with both hands. Ideally you don't want 4 callers.

There is no way in hell you are allowed to fold those hands when you flop a set and you are playing with such a tiny stack (19bb in the first hand, 28 in the second).

Also, when you play short stacked in a casino game, you have to consider this entertainement gambling and not hope to make a profit. There's no way you can have enough of an edge as a short stack to beat the casino rake, so you are playing with negative EV and should expect to end the night with less money than you brought.

You make very good points bergo,I don't know if the OP is from florida but in florida casinos max buying for 1/2,2/5 and even 5/10 is $100 dollars and as far as raising goes is my experience here that you can expect 4 to6 callers in a $15 opening raise,2to3 on a $25 raise and 0 to 2 in a $30 to $35 specially if you are playing with regs no matter what ur image is.As far as profability i have found it possible to make good money even with the short stack.

hello

Hi, well i would suggest that you played the first hand perfectly and the second hand. Well... the way you played it wasnt wrong cuz you wanted to chase out the draws right? well the only problem with that is if the pot is big enough some people wont mind going all in to see 2 more cards. I would have just bet at the pot to see were i was. She would probably just call slowplaying the str8 if i had to guess. but atleast that way you wouldnt completley double her up. hope this helps

GL and hope to see ya all on the tables soon.
