Villain is an aggro 8 tabling 100NL reg 27/23 3bet 15% 450 hands.

My image is somewhat tighter 23/18 3bet 8%.

poker stars, $0.50/$1 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players

BB: $168.51 (168.5 bb)
Hero (UTG): $173.72 (173.7 bb)
MP: $40.72 (40.7 bb)
CO: $119.34 (119.3 bb)
BTN: $100 (100 bb)
SB: $308.06 (308.1 bb)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with 8

Hero raises to $3, 2 folds, BTN calls $3, 2 folds

Flop: ($7.50) 3

Hero bets $5, BTN raises to $14.35, Hero ...

I expect him to float a lot, so I was surprised with the raise on such a dry board. He reps overpairs and sets for value obv, so do I look to GII now or flat and keep what should have been his floats (AQ/T9s/55 and stuff) in?

We can't rule out hands like AA/KK here since I've seen him flat AA OTB before to a MP open (kinda makes his 3bet range super unbalanced but whatever).

if you expect him to float a bunch then i think 3betting is best, since you think he has sets and overpairs in his range do you expect them to ever r/f. its really hard to have any semi bluffs so how often is he bluff raising given you expect him to float heaps?

Pretty much sums up why I thought I misplayed the hand, thanks :)

Yeah I really don't think you're going to see any real bluffs raising here since he'll just float his overs. I'd expect only sets and overpairs (especially since you've seen him flat big pairs). 3bet.

im clicking this back every day. pretty sure player like this is always going to use his image to get value and ship over when he has high end overpairs and sets here. if he flats the CiB, id go 20 OTT and ship riv.

If you really have a good hand like an overpair, two pair, a set, he's gonna have a hard time bluffing you out of them. The only good hand I could see him bluffing you out of is A8 or K8. If he's flatted over pairs before then I'd say that's what he's doing here. I'd go with a very large three bet. You want to be all in and I don't think it would be a terrible play to move all-in after his bet honestly. I could see alot of players calling all in right there thinking that they trapped you by flatting the AA or KK and they are about to double up on your top pair.

As I suspected, I messed this up big time. As soon as I got to the turn I knew it. I might have to reduce the amount of tables I play to 6 if I'm going to make plays like this.

Anyhoo, I flatted to keep all his non existant air in (sigh), turn Jc, and I then x/r all in (lol). Fortunately he snapped me off with KK. Should have all gone in otf obv.

The question here for me is more your image than his. On such a dry board I'm going to weight his range towards value, but I'm more worried about whether he thinks you could 3b here with air. If yes, I'm liking the 3b small to induce a shove. [realistically you're clicking it back regardless, this is just a basic reasoning]
