three-handed, i dont think it was such a bad call. you cant expect him to have a set, but he might have a over pp because of the raise. but maniacs will raise with anything.

playing against a maniac, you probably wont get him to fold by betting small. so if you know he's going to raise you all-in and you are planning on calling, might as well go all-in yourself first, its probably the only bet he might consider folding to. but this is playing into the maniacs strategy, i think most tag players will just recommend you wait until you have the nuts to go all-in or call an all-in raise.

IMO, you could have waited for a better hand to go with, maniacs will almost always stack your premium hands and this is the reason to wait for premium hands.
When you hit the nuts on the flop with a maniac in the hand, all you have to do is check/call a maniac because they'll always bet the board.

Another thing I would like to mention: You had a read on villian as a maniac who would bet everything, why did you stay in the hand when he could have had a 3 in his hand, considering his range, it's possible he could have had it.

obv your call was fine here...he's a maniac and you have top pair 2nd kicker.

Please don't post bad beat stories here of which this is obviously 1
