Thanks for the comments. It's a 1-2 game, but usually everyone has 500+ in front of them so it plays more like a 2-5 game. 17$ raises fairly typical preflop.
There seems to be strong consensus I misplayed the turn. That's probably right. He's getting 3-1 on his call. He has big implied odds and position. If he hits his card he can expect a big payoff. Same logic I used on the flop. I think I miscounted the pot. It was late.
But also, I think I was putting him on QJ and thought he might have made a lower straight. My first thought was going for a check raise. But I went with my second idea, which was to make a fairly weak bet he might interpret as a bluff (it's a crazy game, lots of moves get made), and hopefully get him to come over the top.
Thanks for the comments, it was in interesting hand for me, even though I lost it. And I still managed a small profit on the night when all was said and done....
