OK... So, I've been around for a little while now talking like I have some idea how to play the game. And it only seems fair that I post some hand for you all to roast. Here is one. Lay it on me.

Here was my reasoning along the way... (I was the button). The all in raise from the SB came from a guy who I figured had a weak suited A or K. I call assuming the 12 bets will isolate us (first mistake?). Then realizing the 46 was my only real worry other than a draw I decided to push his raise. Oops.

There I just poured gas on myself for all you matchbook wielding vultures... bring it on.

much love,
cAPS

Postflop is good. There's absolutely nothing to say about getting it in with top set on a rag flop.

Preflop is a bit of a close call, though, given that SB's stack size is a little small. You're playing for set value. In this particular case I think it's OK, but remember to be careful about putting a lot of money in preflop with small pairs since you need to be paid off heavily in order to justify it.

But, in this case, I think it's fine. You have position, there's one guy all-in who won't bother you anymore and SB seems to have a big enough stack to be able to pay you off when you hit.

First of all THANK YOU for taking the time. I promised and I mean it.

With something like 55 I would usually fold to 12 bets. In fact USUALLY I would fold to 8 bets and most likely 6. ;)

But I thought this guy was giving me a coinflip. He was, and he won.

But of course it was the OTHER guy who chapped my ass. ;)

He was felted within 10 minutes. I now have my money back. He was 89/67/0.7 over like 45 hands.

Before someone jumps on me for it, I figured I'd better put this in better language:

SB's stack size is a bit too small for the investment. I realize that compared to the blinds, we're deep - but not compared to the preflop raise. There, now my anal retentiveness can calm down and I can get back to work.

But, as I said, you played it fine. I would probably have tanked for a few seconds when the BB pushed, checked the stack size of SB and then decided to go with it.

Preflop is loose

Postflop you can't get away from top set. You'll be facing overpairs and draws so often that you have to stack here.

A side note: i can't understand why PS makes 2NL players play 250bb deep. That's just crazy, imo.

Thanks to you too Belgo.

OK. I felt kind of shabby in this hand, and you guys make me feel a little better. It was a risky preflop call, and it was played OK after that.

So obviously the next one I need to post should be much more questionable. I will take a deep breath and see if I can bring myself to reveal some RALLY bad play... but hopefully some I need some insight on. Half the time I screw up I kind of know it. Heh.

About the $5 buyin. Yes. It is interesting. Though it is not "forced". I am pretty sure min is 50bb. I like to be deep for hands.. well like that one. But it's risky down there. 2/5 is still a little wild at $10 max, and 5/10 doesn't go up. It's $10 there too.

I suppose the paranoid would say the policy stimulates a little bit of actual rake down at the minimicros.

It also caters to the loose gambly sort of play down there...

I dunno.
