I obviously overplayed/underplayed this on the river.
I should mention that this was about a dozen hands in, and I've never played any of these people in a ring game before.

I did end up finishing ahead a little bit at this table. But that was due to a lot of little plays, and a lot of good players leaving and being replaced by not-as-good players.

Urggghhhh..

the thing is when your playing one of these forum cash games your either playing for the craic or serioiusly.

Fold to the pre-flop raise.

Stabbing at the pot on the flop is fine, give it up then and there to any resistance, you playing against better than the standard, realise that :) If it was me then id say fine, but Zach takes these things seriously :p

Yeah, a questionable call gave me an open ended draw that lead to a very weak top pair that I went too far with.

It was poorly played and I deserved to lose.

I think most of it is bad but forgivable, up until I bet the river.

It did sober me up a bit, and I did better after that. :)

First off, you should probably fold this preflop. Secondly, this is not a great flop for you. You have 8 outs to the straight but either one kills your action as it puts 4 to a straight on the board. A stab is fine but I don't understand your logic behind calling that flop raise. You can't believe you're good, you're not getting odds, and there are 0 implied odds for that kind of draw. If you had me on the kind of hand I did have actually, a call is fine if you're going to bluff later, but these look more like value bets on the turn and river. How do you play that turn if the A or straight doesn't hit? I was actually afraid you had a 2-pair type hand, because you flat called that raise and then bet the A. I thought maybe you had A3, A5, or A6. That 6 definitely made me feel better about my hand because I'm now ahead of A3 and A5. Pretty easy call there for me but if you push there as I seriously was expecting you to do I have a really tough decision. Also unless you thought you were ahead that river bet is not good. If I have you beat I call and if I am behind I fold. fwiw if you check there I check behind happily with AK there. There are just so many hands that have you beat there that will call the $7 and check behind if you check. You save $7 from those hands and I don't think you get any value from anything you beat from that hand. The only value I see in that river bet is maybe a blocking bet if you're afraid of me bluffing with a shove. I highly doubt that was your intent.

And if I was rolled for 400nl I may mess around at this table as well, but as these are the tables I normally play at my goal is to make money. If we were playing at the 1c/2c tables I may mess around too, but with this much money on the table, you can bet I'm taking this seriously :).
