Hey everyone, this was on the .01/.02 NL ring. I'm pretty new to poker and wanted to see what you thought about this hand. Did I play it too slow? I was getting folded too all night and didn't want to scare anyone (where are all these microstakes donks I've been hearing about?).

Stacks:
UTG+1 with $1.48
MP1 with $4.59
MP2 with $4.26
CO with $2.87
BTN with $2.97
SB with $6.72
BB with $6.18
UTG with $6.47

1 players folded.
Total folds this street: 1
Results:
Hero shows a full house, Queens full of Jacks:
Q♦ J♦
UTG+1 doesn't show.
Hero collected $0.59 from pot

When the second jack came out I knew I had the hand and didn't want to scare anyone away so I checked hoping to value bet on the river.

On a side note, I played my first $1 SNG and got first, these are way more fun then ring games.

1. Don't min raise, raise it up to to .15-.20 on the flop

2. The turn brought a heart flush draw and a straight draw bet 1/2-2/3 the pot, poeple love to chase and will pay to do so, you could probably get away with a pot bet and get called.

3. your previous betting (that I recommended) will have built a bigger pot so you can make a bigger river bet. Here is the problem with tyring to get paid on the river after checking the turn. If they are on a draws and miss they will just fold and you gain no more money than if you had bet the turn and they correctly folded anway, but if they catch their second best draw the pot is way bigger and it is easier to get all the money in the middle.

I think the point about the turn being draw heavy is very important. Especially at low stakes, the draws are going to call you. Then if they hit, you'll get paid off more on the river. If they don't, you're not getting paid off whether you bet the turn or not.

The thing about full houses is that you rarely get paid off, because YOU HAVE ALL THE GOOD CARDS! There's only 1 more queen and 2 more jacks in the deck. I think you win a lot more money with hands like straights and sets than with full houses, even though the full house is more likely to win.

Thanks for the advice guys. I minraise all the time so I am going to work on that when I play tonight.

Would posting a hand a day on this board be excessive?
