Hero ????????????????????

Well, I bet the pot on flop with top pair to prevent anyone from drawing for a flush etc... I check-raise the turn-- .75 isn't enough to stop anyone from drawing, but since I gave unfair odds to draw on the flop, I wasn't worried about anyone chasing a flush/straight--I was trying to maximize value.

I lead out the river with what I think is a value bet, and then am surprised by the shove. What does he have???

Probably has a hand that can beat yours. Your checkraise on the turn pretty much telegraphs your hand to him, And hes going all in probably knowing very well that you have trip 7s

I guess his range is 22,33, 56 if he likes chasing, (more likely if they are diamonds), and all hands with a 7. You beat 75,76,87,97,T7, J7 and a bluff. I think you are more likely than not to be behind here, but you are probably getting good enough odds to call anyway, but this is marginal.

If I have to guess, I'd say he has 72 and this is a major cooler... :)

That's a very good point--he does at least know I have the set, so I should probably have gotten away regardless of my read on his hand.

Results? He had pocket 4s, and river'd the FH to beat me... so betting more on the turn could have helped me(And hopefully the 22,33,27,37 shove in on a bet here, so I know I can get away). But I didn't imagine 44 at all--he shouldn't of been drawing out.
