Bad Play, Bad Beat, or Both?

I've been playing a live cash game with a few friends and usually fare pretty well, but at the last game, I suffered what I'm calling a bad beat, but one of my friends says I played the hand badly. Offer some analysis, if you'd like.

6 players. PL Hold 'Em. Blinds were $.25/$.50, and stacks are anywhere from $10 to $60.

I'm on the small blind.

Under the gun calls the blind. Fold around to me. I check. Big Blind raises pot. Under the gun calls. I'm holding KcKd. I raise pot. And the reason I raise pot is because the person on the Big Blind had been raising and/or calling preflop raises literally EVERY hand. Bb calls. Under the gun reraises all-in. I know I have him covered by far, but I really wanted to get the Bb off the hand, so I reraise (I'm not even sure this was legal). So I end up reraising pot again. I think that was $20 bet. Bb calls my bet.

Flop comes 9d 2c 6c. Bb doesn't show any signs of being too happy about the flop, so I go all-in. Bb calls. The bet pot was something like $30-35. Bb calls. I was worried I made a horrible read. Under the gun shows Ks9h. As I said, I have KcKd. Bb shows AcKh.

I'm worried an ace will come, but I think I've made the right move BY FAR. Turn comes 8c. River comes 5c and I lose to a runner-runner flush.

"You call those bets with K9...and you did with AK?" I said.

Looking back, I think I overbet, but I felt like I had to to protect my hand versus a person who seemed to be playing extremely loose. He said he thought I had a pair that hand and he still wanted to call with AK, thinking he would hit an ace or a king. The guy with K9 says he put me on a low pair and wanted to reload anyway, so he took a shot.

I think they were both retarded for calling me, and I had established somewhat of a tight presence. I bet up AA earlier in the game and I also bet up JJ. I figured that it would be better to bet these hands up and protect them than to have to worry about a bad beat, but I feel like it came anyway.

A long story, but I would LOVE some feedback. I'm hosting a game again in two weeks and I want to think about how to play against this loose luckbag. First thing I will do is sit to his left . Whatcha think folks? THANKS!

Ideally you want to get heads up which you did with the UTG and I don't think the BB would have folded no matter what you did.

You played the hand fine. You had a read on the aggressive raiser and used it for a check raise preflop. Nothing wrong with that. You got as much money in there preflop as you could, and with that unscary flop, nothing wrong with getting it all in. BB made a bad call and got lucky, it happens. He's also stupid for thinking both is A and K are outs. At best he should expect to be drawing for an A after your check raise and reraise over UTG preflop, but oh well.

You did not overplay this hand. If people will call this kind of bet and you are ahead, why not get money in the pot? You're not a massive favorite here because of the A but you're by far going to win the majority of these I believe and you only need to win 1/3 of these to break even.

If you had him dominated when you got him to put his money in, what more can you ask for?

If anything you should hope he keeps calling those Everyone has their lucky/unlucky beats...doesn't make your bet a wrong decision at all.

that's what i meant (i.e. just called initially - no raise)
