8th hand at this table so no real reads yet, except that the villian has not made a bet yet. 7 pre-flop folds. The rest of the table has been mostly limp/check.

I figured a 4x BB raise would weed out the pretenders, so I took my callers seriously. The flop looked great as I hit top pair, top kicker. I wanted to be aggressive OOP but still get info. I was puzzled by this leach stuck to me as I bet out strongly in first position, even after I hit 2 pair on the turn. I could not figure out what this guy could possibly have had. Could you?

How's my play so far? What to do on the river?

Think your play is fine up to the River.

Could possibly have raised slightly more pre-flop.

I think he has trips (3´s).

Think you should fold???

You're ahead of his range, so a push for your remaining $8 or so is fine. Yeah he could have 22/33, but the average 25nl donk plays KQ/QT/QJ/A2/A3/Ax/a whole host of other possible crap the same way. He may well call with a lot of these hands you're beating, too.

My first thoughts when reading the hand was 'why only raise 3 x BB with 2 limpers in behind'? I am not sure if this is not normal play or not, it just seems like you are saying "please call me" and AQos is not really the hand to do that

Anyway, back to the hand! I like the pot bet on the flop, good to find out where you are in the hand.

The turn, again a pot bet is a pretty strong play but you are only leaving yourself with $7 which, given the pot odds, means you are likely to chuck the last few $$$ in whether you had hit your hand or not. So maybe an all-in here? Its easy to say that though as I know he is calling!

I personally think he has a set but I would push in on the river no matter what.

Since you're first to act, I would check and see what he does. If it's a big bet, chances are he has a set.

I thought my 4x BB raise was good. Maybe not.

Wouldn't that let him bluff at me? I hate getting bluffed.

Anyone here for a check-raise for info? Maybe the flop or turn?

I agree with Dorkus, bet again cause if he has the set so be it... He could be the ultimate calling station and doesn't believe you have a hand either.. Definatly bet it.. make him pay to win if indeed he is ahead which is unlikely but not impossible.

I personally think he will raise you if you check. You can then come back over the top but i think he has you beaten

Nah.

If you go for a c/r on the flop you're running the risk of it being checked around. Although not many cards can come on the turn that are obvious dangers to you, you want to get money in with some degree of certaintly while you have what you believe to be the best, albeit a potentially vulnerable hand.

If you're c/ring the turn, it has to be a c/r push as long as villain bets meaningfully, and pushing all in "for info" seems a little silly, no? ;)

I'm guessing villain has slowplayed a set just because of the very fact you've posted this hand, but even if he has done this you should be aware that many people play many worse hands exactly the same way. Just plonk down a "limp-called pf with 22/33 and slowplayed set" note on villain and move on.

And as Colin said, raise more preflop. You don't want to be out of position in a multiway pot with AQ, so it's worth trying a 5-6bb raise considering the two limpers to try and isolate one of them.

OK, ya got me. But one of these times, I'm gonna fool you and post a winner. ;)

** Dealing River ** [ 8s ]
PDSticker is all-In.
imyrhklberry calls [$7.75].
PDSticker shows [ Qc, As ] two pairs, aces and queens.
imyrhklberry shows [ 2c, 2s ] three of a kind, twos.
imyrhklberry wins $34.80 from the main pot with three of a kind, twos.

This is why I hate sitting at a table with more than $10. I seem to run into these situations where it is probably correct to bet down my hand. But I seem to go broke more than I double up. Probably the wrong attitude, but I'm working on it. It still sucks to be right & broke at the same time.

I'd check the river and call his bet if he bet. I've seen many examples such as this hand, and *most* of the time someone has a hand such as KQ or QJ. Every once in a while you run into a hidden set, and I don't know of a way to avoid losing a lot of money in a hand like this if he does have a set.

If he did have a set, put a note that he slow plays sets and be a little cautious next time in a pot with him.

Raise more PF - about the pot or more to weed out the limpers. You won't have position post-flop, which takes some value away from you AQ.
Aside from that, I think you played it well. A river check could be argued because of the set possibility, but you're so committed that the odds are in your favour that you have him beat.
This is one of those situations where player notes could save your stack; I hope you noted how he played a set (sloooooowwwwwplay) and use it to your advantage next time.

Good hand and I thought it was well played; unfortunate ending though :(

tough to get away from OOP with those stack sizes IMO. If you were deepstacked check-calling or even check-folding the river based on the opponet makes sense, but here, the right move on the river was to just shove the rest in there, 25 max donks have KQ, Q10, or QJ often, although his flat call of the ace on the turn should have been an alarm that you were probably beat
