Am I right to say this is an insta call here?

I agree. If the villain has A/J or J/J so be it. It's likely that the guy had A/Q or A/Ts and fell in love with his flopped set and there's a lot of money in the pot so a call is mandatory.

If just calling the weak bet after the flop allowed his 8/8 to hit a set, well, then we deserve to lose.

Has to be an insta call every single time unless against a compelte nit, but even then its still probably a call. Also you should have 3 bet pre flop imo

Instacall. You have villain covered, it's HU and you have a hand. Too much in the pot to just give it up. Even if he boated, it's worth knowing.

You've completely underrepped your hand here and AK crushes his range. Snapcall.

Yeah, and 3-bet preflop.

Yes, with about 3 to 1 on your money I would call in a cash game situation. In a tourney, I may not depending on the situation, with top set top kicker, you are depending too much on a kicker for tourney life. Your AK is only beat by AJ A8 A3 88 33. After the turn betting, if I were to put him on a hand it would Ad 8d or 88. If you lost don't feel bad, all of us would have too.

no worries, just a cooler, next time this situation occurs, you will likely have the best hand and win that stack back

sucks man you can't do much here IMO everyone would lose their whole stack. I'm suprised you played it so passively though I woulda reraised preflop, probably just smooth call on the flop like you did but raise on the turn.

3 bet PF

After that, standard cooler. Although depending on my table image I just might raise that flop. If my cbets never get called I like to ramp up the aggression and push the edges until someone plays back. I've found that my big hands get paid off more often then once nobody believes me.

Reload and get it back later on.
