Can someone help me with this hand please.

100NL 6 MAX

Villain is 16/14/3.6

I suspected that he had AT with the flop play but what can i say, had top pair top kicker and was not good enough to lay it down, maybe continued with the hand "just in case" he had AQ

Was there any way to get away from this hand, or play it differently?

Button ($119.92)
Hero ($223.32)
BB ($96.64)
UTG ($106.15)
MP ($100)

Preflop: Hero is SB with K

3bet preflop for sure then get it all in on the flop. You should never be folding TPTK in a 3bet pot at 6max so if villain calls and hits his set its just a cooler. In 6max AK is a hand you are looking to get aipf nearly every time. Flatting a raise with it (other than for a mixup play) is borderline terrible at 6max imo.

By not 3-betting preflop, you give villain odds to hit his set. Then you can't lay down TPTK when the starting stack to pot ratio is high. You played this about as horribly as possible.

If you had 3-bet here to 20$, and then never folded TPTK, you would still profit. But since you didn't 3-bet, you made a losing long-term play.

3-BET ACE KING PREFLOP!!!!

But what about the times when i am up against a pocket pair, Cbet and loose that, which would be $20 for the re-raise and then $30+ for the Cbet, so that's $50 for every time that i do not hit my ace or king, and even if i do then i wont win that much as the scare card would freeze my action?

Would it be profitable to play AK this way?

Is this correct thinking? Of course if a LAG raises i will re-raise it but how should i look to play AK in 6 MAX

Please help, thanks guys

More agressive preflop action to protect your hand. AK suited is always a pretty hand and also a hand thats gets you in trouble. lol

You want to try to get it all in preflop like 99% of the time at 6max, or atleast get the most amount of money u can in preflop so it makes your postflop decision easy.

Who says you have to c-bet? You know you can control the board texture/villains you c-bet against. And also, you have a high likelyhood of winning the pot right there. Plus it gives your 3-bets more respect. Plus it lets you stack off with TPTK without having to worry about set mines, ect.

So um, yeah. 3-bet AK. Hell, I 3-bet AQ as well, and sometimes KQs.

I don't understand this hand history.

He leads out for $12 on the flop. Then you raise $15 to $27. Then he's allowed to raise only $10 to $37?

What?
