What do you all think? Any suggestions on this play? Probably should have raised the flop bet after reviewing it further.

Why did you not re-raise this preflop? You're significantly behind exactly 2 hands, one of which you have an over to, and this hand significantly loses value on most flops while putting a scare card to others on most flops.

That said, he sucked out on you. You had him destroyed, he called your re-raise with a gut shot, and you call that river all day long, it's a 1/4 pot bet (yes I realize it was all-in, but he was pot committed). After the flop you played it fine I thought, maybe a re-raise on the flop just because of the spade draw and possibly you can get away from this if you can put him on a set or 2-pair.

As played, even if he folds on all non-straight boards (highly unlikely he folds if the A hits), you made money here. He was drawing to 4 outs and barely got any implied odds out of it. Bad play by him, not a horrible play by you. Like I said I do think you need to re-raise this preflop but once you called this play isn't terrible. He sucked out on you, that happens in poker.

I agree with Zach on most points. Except fo the re-raise p/f. Although in general a 3-bet is better than a call in this spot because you want to take control of the pot and extract maximum value.

But cold calling isnt as bad as it sounds as by cold calling you represent a much weaker hand than AK and it is much easier for you to induce bluffs by your opponents.

Calling on the button isn't a terrible play because you will have position postflop and you'll also keep the pot small which makes it easier for you to get away from it if you miss and it's also good to mix up your play. But with the texture of that flop i think this is a definite reraise because you cant afford to give free cards and it's better to win a small pot than to lose a big one as they always say.

Thanks for the input. I guess I played it okay but the river got me. Oh well. I got my money in ahead at the turn.

Calling preflop is fine but reraising is fine also. On the flop make a big raise, there's a straight draw and a flush draw there you don't want to just call if he has something like QJ or small flush draw. On the turn you should have raised a little bit more maybe to $30. And like Zach said this opponent played it awful. Bet the flop with nothing, then he continues with another bluff with nothing, then he calls a raise with nothing. I guess this opponent thought you had something like 10 8 or 10 9 or a small flush draw.

Our villain wouldn't put us on T8 or T9 if we had 3 bet pf. That board is also too dodgy to get cute playing tptk. We have to r/r flop here imo. If he calls, which is debatable as we have defined our hand, then I doubt he calls a substantial turn bet.
