This is a risky move. It cries "Don't call to chase the flush." If you have a good read on the players where you know they won't call a big all in on a draw, it was a move you had to make.

Yep this all-in move is to shove out the guy who has the flush draw and make them fold.

I have no reason to believe he had a flush draw (if he did and had otherwise missed the flop, he'd probably take a free card). I'm more inclined to believe he doesn't have one, or at least not a good one, since he's bet pot to price out draws.

I wouldn't call it a "big" all-in, since it's less than a pot-sized raise and he's getting 5:2. He'd be making a mistake by not calling with a high spade.

Do you really want him to call with a high spade with a risk of getting outdrawn?
No I'd rather he makes the mistake and doesn't call.

From his point of view I could well be on a draw, which I think makes shoving better, since he's more likely to call with KJ or something.

Does anyone like just calling on this flop, and seeing what he does on the turn? If the turn is a blank and he shoves, what do I do? If the turn is a scare card (ten or spade), what do I do?

Calling is not a choice here. You should raise but It hink the all in was a bit too aggressive. Maybe bet something between $10-$15. If a spade comes up, especially if its a 10 of spades, I think you would have to fold.

I`m not very good going back and forth.

Unless u have a read, I can`t see the guy folding.

His raise suggests he has something, but I think it is a brave move by you. He raised 5 times bb pre flop so what does he have?

Already an overpair to your Jacks? Lets hope if he has one of them is not a spade? AK/ AQ - again, hopefully no spade or spades. A set - he ain`t gonna fold. 1010, open straight draw, 2nd pair and possibly flush draw?

I can`t see a hand he has that he raises 5 times bb preflop then folds post flop, other than red AK, AQ, pair below 8`s.

I think folding is not out of the question - u could already be way behind - but I would not.

Calling is not, IMO, a stupid move. If he has nothing, he will be thinking the flop was good 2 u. Then see what happens after the flop.

However, a reraise of $5 would tell u a lot.

This is an interesting situation that I think there is not a bad move u can make, fold, call, reraise or push all in!!!

Hm, a dozen posts about the problem and not a single one about the cause of the problem...

You called preflop, which you clearly shouldn't, unless you had a specific read. That's a cause.

The problem itself?
I again think that you should fold.
(His) folding probability has to be much more than 50% for this push to be profitable. But it isn't. It is much less than 50%...
IMHO, even calling is a better move than pushing. But folding seems clearly the best...
(Btw, his play most perfectly corresponds with 99 or 88)

P.S. I almost forgot. If you were so motivated to stay in the hand, you probably should bet first. Something about $2.5 would be enough.
The point is - if he has you beaten, there is no way to scare him. So, why would you risk more money?

So I think:
The best line on the flop is probably bet/fold.
The second best line is check/fold.

Note that key word for this hand is "fold" :). You have a weak made hand, with poor improving potential. You can win a small pot or (more often!) lose a big one.
