I am confused... you said Button raised to $7 but then you say the pot is $8. Which is it?

Honestly I don't see how you called the $7 pre-flop bet with only .50 committed (because of your BB). I believe you can't get run over in the blinds, but this is a hand you can let go. What was the playing style of the Button, in a 6-handed game you have to have somewhat looser standards.

So if we do some very basic analysis --

What hands might he have? Let's just assume he hit top pair and his bet is meant to price you out of drawing to your flush. This gives you 12 outs (9 diamonds and the other three hearts) . Those 12 outs give you a roughly 48% chance of hitting your hand on the turn or river. You may think that is good enough to call with but I don't like the play for my whole stack, but -- as stated above -- I doubt I call the preflop bet.

But what if he hit something like a set or even the nut or second best straight and AQ or KK is something that probably fits the preflop raise. Then you're only looking at the 9 outs for your flush. This changes the equation significantly. In both cases your ace is behind.

I'll answer this Dorkus style:

Fold preflop.

Villain raised 14 BBs....you have no reason to call with anything less than a top 10 hand. As for your decision post-flop, I think you're getting the pot size confused, but it should be $14.25 ($7 raise + .25 from SB + your $7 call). He's raising to $43.23, putting you all in, and giving you $28.23 to call after you bet $8. The pot's at $58.48. So he's laying you 2.1:1 odds on your money. You have at most 12 outs (I really don't think your ace is live), giving you 1.22:1 odds to the river, so this seems like a clear call if you think your outs are clean. Worse case scenario is that OP is holding AxQd or a set, giving you 11 outs which you still have pot odds to call.

Either way I gotta stress folding preflop; you could have avoided this whole sticky stituation and just lost 50c instead of risking your whole stack on a weak draw.
