Yea this hand makes no sense. Why on earth are you limp/calling with QQ preflop?

Apart from that the hand is ok in the sense that you didn't lose very much with an overpair on the flop vs set.

To clarify I'm the Hero. I don't know why the hand printed out like that?

Yeah, I limped with the Q's.

Help me out if this is fcuked up strategy, but sometimes if I'm early with a good hand, and when I have a few really aggressive guys at the table, I'll let them get some money in and maybe even call/raise (didn't here though).

Bad move?

Queens aren't generally strong enough to limp/raise with.

Just raise it preflop and go from there.

If your going to limp/call however, you may aswell check/raise flop to try and build a pot that way

Turn/river seem standard

The strength of your hand doesn't really matter...

What we're trying to accomplish with a limp/3-bet is to punish villains for opening too lightly, reduce the stack to pot ratio so we can stack off safely with an overpair, and get more money in while we're ahead of his range. How strong our hand is isn't all that significant IMO, as long as it will benefit from the limp/3-bet.

The strength of the hand isn't important as much if you get the chance to 3 bet., but if noone raises and you end up taking a flop vs the blinds, then the strength of your hand does matter since you are giving up free shots for people to hit overcards/sets

If there's no villain's who open too lightly, then there's no point to limp/3-betting is there :p

Limp/3-betting should be used in only specific situations. For example, there's a loose aggressive player on the button who isolates limpers & steals from the button quite often. Then limp/3-betting from UTG or UTG+1 is a play I like.

Plus, I don't mind playing a 3-way flop vs. the blinds. Sure, you are missing a bet if it folds around to the blinds. However, if the likelyhood that a late position villain will raise is really high, I don't mind risking that bet.

ajsdhhsagfgsdhfsdhfvaskjfhfp, that's what i've been saying!!!!

Also, op doesn't state reads on table, so can't assume the table is going to raise

Yeah, well he didn't limp/3-bet either :p I was just commenting on the merits of limp/3-betting, my post had very little to do with the opening post :D

PS - Opening poster, you're insane for not either raising with the queens preflop, or 3-betting them. Limp/calling makes me a sad sad man.

Ok, so my fail starts with the limp, and is compounded by the checking on the turn and river.

Maybe it's something I need to work on, because I do it enough. Too timid to put money in the pot and I just end up reacting.

Work in progress ........

Thanks for the advice.
