This was a freeroll... so... yeah.. i know that it mighta been a lot different if it was real.... but eh... it was a wsop round #1 warm up qualification tourny at bugsyclub/pokerpages.com.. but eh... the play at this stage of the tournament was actully pretty decent from most players....

My main question is what u woulda done after the flop..... ide really like if ppl stopped reading after what the flop was, then answer... then continue to read =]...

also your opinion of the next move is gladly accepted...

Ante is 100
blinds are 300/600
have about 70k in chips and am the chipleader on your table
overall chip-lead in the tourny is 110k chips
average stack on your table is about 44k
2nd largest stack on your table has 50k (and he's the button)
I'm the SB
to make things easier, we'll say the button is in seat #1
#4 UTG folds
#5 folds
#6 folds
#7 limps in

#8 limps
#9 folds
#1 button limps in
#2 SB (HERO)dealt 5c 5s raises raises 3300, making it 3600 to go.
#3 BB folds

#7 calls
#8 folds
button calls

flop comes Jc Js 5d

Now i was talking to a friend during this hand right after i made my decision after the flop.
He said "check man, have them bet into you". Should i have? the way i played it out did make it very profitable for me... plus
it got me more of a feel if they had hit a monster hand or not.... so i would be able to throw it away if i needed to.... K, ill shut up now and continue.

Pot is $12,300 *unless i've forgotten how to count*

i bet out $6,600
#7 folds
the button calls
Pot is at 25,500
The turn brings the 8h
Jc Js 5d 8h

So im about certain he has the jack. He's been a pretty decent player so far, nothing crazy, but he's called some bets with hands like K-10 AND QJ and shit.
i checked, i had stolen several pots already abusing with my stack, but a few hands i was played back at and let it go... so... i checked without taking too
long....
before i go on
funny ass shit.. while im typing this, i just got dealt pocket 5s on a table and flopped trips with a jack on the board too, hahaha =] if only there was another
jack hahaha :) oh whoa.. how funny.. jack on the turn.. hahahahahha.. this is great.... k, back to the hand.

He bets out 15k
I re-raise him all in
He calls it...
he shows A-Jo
river didnt help him.

I ended up finishing 3rd in the tournament outta 550 or so.... even though its only a free-roll.. =/

Well I'm not to fond of your preflop raise, unless you thought you could take down the pot right there. You're out of position, so you are basicly playing your low PP for set-value. So a call would've been better IMO.

You hit a great flop, and if your opponents doesn't have a jack they will give you the pot right away, so I think you should check or throw out a "feeler" bet to try and induce a bluff. If they have a jack you will get action no matter what and you will both be all in before the hand is over.

I think your play on the turn was good, but I think the outcome would have been the same no matter what. But atleast you gave him an oppotunity to try and steal the pot, if he didn't have a jack.

ditto

i think raising pf with 5s is a bad play especially with that many people in
the way to play them is limping into a family pot...this was the perfect situation for you to limp
a small bet on the flop would be good to either induce a bluff or to get the guy with the J to bring some action to the pot

i get a lot of shit for my pre-flop play betting.. Im a pretty aggressive player once i get chips under me. I was more or less trying to take the blinds and antes, because other than the guy i ended up busting, noone else had enough chips to harm me much.. and if they did make a stand, i'de let them take it, just like i had done in the hand previous to this....

Don't raise out of position with 3 limpers with crap like 55 - limp and play it purely for set value.

The rest is fine.

i think u guys are misunderstanding me and my playing... im here seekin more advanced playing, changing it up..... i was at a point in the tourny where the blinds were getting pretty high, there were antes, i had a big chiplead, and most of the ppl were playing tight trying to make it to the bubble.

okay so i raised the BB by 3k.... but remember, u got $900 in antes, $300 and $600 in the pot. $1800. I was stealing several hands pre-flop. If i got called, and the flop wasn't a good flop for me, obviously ill let it go. what did i lose? 3k? the 10 pots i took make up for that =].

I remember a time when i was on a table and i had a guy harrassing me for buying pots.. We were on the same table in a tourny early on.... then the table broke.... now deep in the tourny i was the overall leader in chips, and we were on the same table....and he starts with his "i see you're still buying pots" and another player on the table responds "hmmm, in my notes from the past, i have him as 'never slow plays his hands. if he's betting, fold. If he's checking or calling, push' " ....

i dont play much ring, but when i do, obviously im a lot more selective with hands, and i don't make as many moves. But in tourny play, there are times where you have to change it up and make your move.

oh, and i bet on the flop because i felt if he had the jack, he'll play back. If he's holding something like AQ or pocket 10s, i don't wanna give him the chance of getting a runner runner or his set card and losing it. If he has the jack, im confident enough that the 4th jack is not gonna appear most of the time.
so that leaves his kicker. I'm confident the 4th 5 is somewhere near the 4th jack..... so that gives him his 3 outs for whatever his kicker is, the jack... and the highly improbable runner runner pairing each other up and giving him the the jacks full.

so i bet because i wanted to make sure that if he didn't have the jack, he'd go away and not be another bad-beat story for me to tell.... and that if he did have the jack, i know he'd play back on my "bluff" =]
