$600 NL HE Heads-up: 600nl badly played KK facing river shove

Found this hand on my comp. that I remembered I wanted to post. Was played sorta awhile ago but if I remember correctly this guy 3betted/called 3bets IP a ton. seemed pretty good/aggro.

Stack sizes:
SB: $900.08
hero: $1269.18

Pre-flop: (2 players) hero is BB with K♠ K♦
SB raises to $18, hero raises to $90, SB calls.

Flop: 5♦ 3♣ 6♦ ($186, 2 players)
hero checks, SB checks.

Turn: 9♠ ($186, 2 players)
hero bets $155, SB calls.

River: 7♠ ($496, 2 players)
hero checks, SB is all-in $652.08

My intention originally was the check raise the flop, however because it didnt happen I was kinda not sure what to do on the river. I wish I would have bet flop/pushed turn.

Why check the flop? Are you that sure that villain is going to bet out after you 3bet him preflop? Besides that, C/R there seems to just scream I have it!!!! A standard Cbet looks normal and I think if you have an aggro opponent he might think a lot of hands like 77-QQ are solid here, and put that flop raise in for you.

Yeah but cos he's aggro, I'm presuming Infamous thought that he'd bet the flop and get more value.

Obviously I'm not the right person to be posting in this thread and wouldn't even attempt to give some sort of analysis lol. But this hand looks kinda interesting, especially against someone you think's a good player. Did you have any specific history with him?

Flop play depends on game flow and stuff, but I think the fact that he's shown aggressive tendencies so far means that he'll be bluff raising this flop often enough that just cbetting will yield higher EV than trying to check-raise since his raise will be so much bigger than his bet when we check to him. So I just go ahead and bet without a strong read that he'll bet tons when check to, won't bluff raise often, and/or will sometimes jam light when we c/r.

I said in OP that I was going for a c/r on the flop.

i actually think you can call the river, he never has you on a straight, so he can bluff here almost all the time

Unfortunately the check/raise didn't work, i'm sure I would of done the same exact thing. It also sucked that two running spades came along for a flush, which makes you kings look weak. I prefer to check/raise on ring tables because there's always someone seeing where they are in the flop. Hopefully your check/raises are more successfull now, GL TC :D.

yea, that must of been what messed me up.

What did your opponent do, call that big raise pre-flop w/ A 8s, or pocket 8's??

Maybe w/ A 4s, any pocket pair that would give him a set??

Or was it a muck, and he took down the pot?

I get that you were trying to check raise the flop. But I was wondering why go for the check raise instead of just leading out. Was he letting flop cbets take it down a lot or something?

It just seemed like if he's that aggro, simply leading out would be the right way to get equity instead of check-raising and taking it down on the flop.

yeah the plan to c/r flop prob wasnt optimal, but i was under the impression he would stack pretty light
