My question is should you re-raise pre flop with AK AQ in a s max game? Of course if some one is raising a lot or if it is on the button then yes. But what has got me thinking is that if you are up against a pocket pair, which will be a fair amount of the time then you stand to loose a fair bit if you miss. Say they have 99-QQ, you re-rasie them and then cbet but have to shut it down after that, especally if it is a ragged board. This hand kind of epitomies this. Could i also get some advice about the hand, I supsected he hand exactly what he did have by the turn which is why i did not bluff the river. Thanks

Yes. Hell yes. I only refrain from 3-betting if me & villain are STUPID deep.

As far as the hand goes, I don't hate checking behind here on the flop. We have a lot of showdown value, we don't want to get check raised off our hand, and we still have a lot of equity against pairs QQ and lower. So I don't hate checking behind either, especially if villain will bluff a street or check/raise us off the hand.

You shouldn't c-bet nearly as much in 3-bet pots, since your opponent has a much stronger range of hands. If you bet the flop, I think you need to double barrel the turn and rep an overpair.

100% agree with the less Cbets in 3-bet pots, but should i really try to always represent the over pair, surely that is not +EV as i stand to loose my whole stack in those situations where i am called down? If i double barrel the turn would you recommend shutting down after that or firing again on the river?

Thanks
