Did I play this correctly by not firing out on the flop or should I be looking to build the pot from the flop. Only 1 draw out there that i'm worried about an that's the gutshot SD but the river sealed it for me incase any villian did catch the draw.

Please excuse my poor math at the end by not puttin villain in for the last 2c >.<!

Bet the flop, Bet/shove the turn. Any king will call you here and you should be all in by the turn in if you can. You didn't include any reads on the villian but I would almost always be willing to go broke with a set on that flop and turn.

By checking the flop you make very hard to get all the money in the middle without there being a raise on the turn or river. That is why I say you should lead it.

Edit: Don't show the results in the future, it greatly alters the analysis you will get on the hands when we know how it turns out.

Not even the river bets? I just assumed it was the ACTUAL results of the hand?

Leading out makes complete sense here to help juice the pot for the turn and river, this has always been a kind of tricky spot to me when you flop your set and there has been no bets infront.

You are right my hands are typing faster than my brain is working just the actual results.

As for betting out when checked to, this is not my idea I got if from Miller and Sklansky's No Limit Hold'em Theory and Practice. You lead out here and assume he has a K because if he doesn't you aren't likely to win much more in the hand anyway. If he has nothing and you check he might bluff a small bet and then shut down when you call/raise. Sets are big pot hands so you are better off just assuming he has enough on the flop and just bet out to start pot building.

There are times when checking will be best but no need to get fancy at the micro's 99.99999999999999999% of the time.

C9's guide to playing sets:

1) Is the board 4 to a flush?
2) Is the board 4 to a straight?
3) Did the board counterfeit your full house? (say you have 44 on a 4KKQQ board)
4) If the answer to the above 3 questions is no, bet & raise until all the money is in the pot, or there are no more players left to call your bets.
