Villain started out really weak, basically playing his cards and giving in easily to my %100 ATS, c-bets, double barrels, some light 3-bets. He was there with ~$200 when I bought in for 50 max, and most of the pots we've played haven't seen a showdown.

Lately he's been getting slightly more aggressive, check-raising c-bets, floating, 3-betting light...not going nuts, but he's definitely catching on to my aggressive style.

Thoughts on the line in general, and our play on the river?

Am I reading this correctly ? How long have you been playing this guy for, surely this game is nigh on un-beatable if youve paid €60 in rake.

Oh I think i put a block bet out on the river, and fold to a shove.

HU i don't think i can ever fold this here. I think you could though. Too often that river overshove is a set or straight though...

At the same time, I don't think I am ever checking the river without the intention of calling any bet, i.e. checking for bluff value. If I feel that I would fold to a shove I might try the blocking bet technique.

J/9/2/Q/K board... Yipe! Any T and you're in big trouble.

Like TB said, I'd have liked to have seen his reaction to a river bet, then fold to a shove.

At this point you'd put in $87 to win $142. 1/1.6 odds. So somewhere around 40/60.

Anyway, given the current state of the hand, I'd fold. I think this is a "punish the over-aggressive guy" sort of hand rather than a steal.

I'm crap at HU, so take my view with a pinch of salt. If you call this and win, I'ts a soulread of mega proportions b/c we beat only a bluff here imo. I like the way you played it up to the river but it's a horrid spot to be in now. FOLD

I really hate playing large pots like this out of position in HU matches.

With the amount of just playing the other player I feel its much tougher to do in a heads-up situation.

Fold (even though I'm too much of a fish to do this in reality). I know its hard, but I've seen this too many times and called thinking, "why would he bet so much, if he had me crushed, wouldn't he bet for value instead of scare me out?" Only to see they have what they represented. Its almost like the complete opposite of the Post Oak Bluff (correction?).

I guess the only thing you beat are two pair or less and the bluff. I don't think you're getting the right odds there.

You would have to have some fantastic reads to call this as you beat absolutely nothing but a bluff. Villain doesn't sound like he would make this move with anything that can be beat by 2 pair. vs a manaic you could probably call this, but doesn't sound as if villain is going to shove river except to try and get maximum value from the hand. You'd have to have some serious serious guts (or lack of brains) to overbet shove this river on a flush/straight board with a low 2 pair or one pair.
