Villain is 24/14/2.5 over 40 hands. We get a straight draw on flop to call his cbet, and fire a bullet once he checks turn and a somewhat scary card hits, but villain calls. We hit our straight on the river but so does a backdoor flush and the board is paired. Villain fires what looks like a blocking bet. How do respond? Flat? Min-raise? Raise a bit more? Shove?

Is a call too weak?

If we reraise big (shove) isn't he only calling with hands that have us beat?

I think I'm just calling this, I thought maybe min-raising to get value from top-pair type hands possibly hands like JJ-KK, but I'm not sure it makes up for the time we would end up calling a 3-bet all in against FH's and Flushes....

I actually like the flat call too. I'm not sure if that's weak either but I agree with what your saying likeminutz

I shoved and he folded. In retrospect, I think I should have min-raised, which he might have called with an A.

Am I missing something or am I the only one who thinks he should have folded preflop?

Calling an UTG raise from the button with a suited 1-gapper is a pretty standard play. If we don't hit the flop hard we're done. When we do hit the flop hard we very often win a full stack.

FWIW, I'd usually just make a raise to ~$25 on the river. I don't like shoving because the board is VERY strong and when we get called here we're often beat. Also his 1/4 pot bet on the river says 1 of 2 things to me, either please push so I can call with the nuts or let's just see a cheap SD. Either way your expectations when you shove aren't all that great.

I kinda like a min-raise. I think it's close between a min-raise and a push, though, a little depending on recent history. If we've been active/aggressive vs. this opponent a lot earlier in the session, the shove becomes much more attractive.

You've got a paired flushed board and you want to challenge with the straight? A simple call is the right thing to do in my mind. Villains small bet looks suspiciously weak. IMO he is fishing, or could be fishing for a raise for a C/R move of large proportions. He could make that move with a set, representing a boat or flush, then what can you do? Not a damn thing!

Call.

ok for a min raise, but what do u do if he moves all in ? he's stats says "I'
AGRESSIVE", so u have to consider that. for me it's a flat call.

i would flat call as well because if he has u beat u will lose the minimum and if u raise and he calls u are most likely beat. also by flat calling u can see how hes betting and wat hes betting with gaining valuable information in terms of betting patterns in future hands with this player.
