$50 NL HE 6-max: Setmining, flop OESD, value in calling a second barrel?

Hey guys,

I was playing rush 'cause I was in the mood, and a very strange hand came up. I wanted your opinions as to whether making a call on the turn was correct play.

Cheers!

What's our plan for missed rivers (which will be the case more than 3/4 of the time)? Are we going to call down? Are we planning on betting any cards that don't complete a straight or a set? If the river is a broadway, are we folding?

I like a flop raise more than a turn call.

P.S. Something got screwed up - I think you need to choose a different format option when converting using that converter, I think 2p2 works.

Hero's hand is 4c4s, Hero calls MP open, as does BTN.

Flop ($6) is 5s3d6h, MP bets $3.50, Hero calls, BTN folds

Turn ($13) is 8c, MP bets $8, Hero ???

Flop raise works for me as well. On that board it may control the pot and get you a cheaper draw to the river, as most villains would check the turn fearing a set without an overpair here. I don't think just calling is bad either though.

On the turn you can definitely call, your implied odds are fine so I think it's a +EV call even if you play fit/fold on river. But if you know villain can double barrel some A x hand here, you can also shove, I'm not that good with running numbers but I think you'd have decent fold equity.

I think it's tough to bluff the river here though, logically the implied odds mean you expect to get called should the straight complete so bluffing a blank river would be a complete turn-around and won't seem believable enough.

Fold the turn.

Your implied odds are almost non-existent.

I like the flop call.

You have no implied odds because villain will shut down on a 4 card straight board anyways so unless you're getting direct pot odds to call, it's gonna be -ev.
