Is this a calll on the river as this is what I had sort of set up with my overbet? My thinking on the river is if I overbet the pot, then Im likely to get my villain to push his flush here especially if he has a nut flush as he looks like he's chasing. No read on villain and I only had a small sample of hands <15.

poker stars - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.25/$0.50 Blinds - 5 Players - (LegoPoker Hand History Converter)

SB: $115.25
Hero (BB): $42.00
UTG: $49.65
CO: $47.75
BTN: $48.65

Preflop: Hero is dealt A:diamond: 8:diamond: (5 Players)
UTG calls $0.50, CO folds, BTN calls $0.50, SB folds, Hero checks

Flop: ($1.75) 8:spade: 6:club: 8:club: (3 Players)
Hero checks, UTG checks, BTN checks

Turn: ($1.75) 8:spade: 6:club: 8:club: Q:spade: (3 Players)
Hero bets $2.00, UTG folds, BTN calls $2.00

River: ($5.75) 8:spade: 6:club: 8:club: Q:spade: A:club: (2 Players)
Hero bets $15.00, BTN raises all-in to $46.15, Hero???

Umm you're losing to precisely two hands, neither of which make any sense given the previous action. I'm sorry villain had a horribly played AA/QQ here, but this is pretty much the most standard call ever.

If you fold that, you aren't going to win much money at poker. If he limped with AA then so be it

I would also have bet the flop

Definitely call Jagsti, you can't fold this. You only have a sample of 15 hands which is clearly insufficient to have any read on this villain, and although the QQ or AA is possible there just are too many other hands that you beat to fold this.

For what it's worth, I would have lead out the flop also. If you're beat I doubt it would have changed anything, but still leading out is better.

The reason I didn't bet this flop is, whenever I have bet at I flop previously which I have hit big, everyone folds. I was looking for someone else to bet at it then I could reel them in. Usually I do lead out here, but just this once I decided to check it.
It seems as though everyone will say the same here, so I'll let you know what happened. As I said I was trying to trap villain here with a big overbet. I was very confident he had a flush. If he went all in I was insta calling.... which I did.

Well, its not something I've witnessed a lot, certainly on the button, but this guy had slow played pocket Q's. I certainly would never have put him on this or Aces when playing on the button. Anyways it was kind of interesting hand... you can imagine my reaction when I called imediately for him to turn over them ladies

He played those queens horrible and got lucky you didn't get his stack. Agree with everyone else, bet flop, call river

Easy easy call. Like Dorkus said, we're behind two specific hands here.
