villian seems like he's halfway decent. I figured with this flop I had him crushed and I doubt he was putting more money in the pot so i went for a little deception. anyone raise turn?

Preflop I like, flop I like too - if you're going to slowplay TPTK then this is the sort of board (Ace-rag-rag rainbow) to do it on.

I think you have to raise the turn though - there's a chance he's betting with a draw he's picked up (in which case you want to make it as expensive as possible for him to see the river if he wants to), or that he has a weaker Ace that he was trying to check-raise the flop with (in which case he probably isn't folding).

There's a chance he has a mid-pair or is totally bluffing of course, but in either case you're not likely to get much action from him on the river anyway, so even in these cases I don't think you lose much value raising the turn.

yes, now that I'm going over the hand, I agree that I should have raised the turn. I was hoping to get him to fire again on the river, and either raise him or call depending on the card, but I think I could have gotten a call on a turn raise because my line looks overall suspect. oh well, thats why I've been posting hands, to get better.

I don't mind just calling on the turn, but when he checks on the river, he's probably weak, so a smaller bet that he might call would be in order.
