Why are you asking me all the hard questions?

You can bet $4 here here as a blocker bet and hope to showdown a winner or only lose $4. Checking here is prbly the smart thing to do and just hope to show down a winner. Seems like everything but AQ, AJ, Kx made a straight or 2 pair. I check.

I check and pay off 2 pair or a straight up to a $4 bet.

block bet/fold isnt bad, but i dont see us being ahead very often here. if we check i dont think we can even call a 1/2 pot bet. what are we looking to be ahead of? 8s? busted flush draw?

The problem with a blocking bet here is we either will have to make a really abnormally small bet or risk being pot committed if raised because of stacks, which kind of defeats the purpose of making a blocking bet in the first place (although it's unlikely villain will raise without a T which he is unlikely to have given prior action). Plus absolutely nothing we beat is calling us, surely? If no better hands are folding and no weaker hands are calling, why bet the river at all?

I like check-calling up to round about a half pot bet here against an unknown.

I say check and call if the price is right, fold otherwise. I think it would come down to your reads as to how much you can call.

I really can't imagine being ahead here much of the time though except vs the busted draw.

I agree with a check but we have ~$25 already in the pot and the total pot is $50. You want to call off up to $25 of your stack off?

Im not really looking at the straight but more of 2 pair or a set

yeah that is pretty horrible seeing as any bet villain will make if checked to will essentially be for our stack.

i think bet sizing on flop/turn needs some work to avoid getting into such a horrible spot.

edit: vvv it's 1:40am here and i've just driven through a blizzard, bite me :/

The river is going to cost you.

Like Chuck said, what are you really beating here except a busted draw?

My own thoughts are KJ.

yeah bet sizing is real bad here. as played, check/fold is good, unless he bets something stupid like 1/4th of the pot or so

Why ? How would you size your bets, pre-flop is standard, flop i bet the pot, turn i bet half the pot.

I like TcKc for the villain if we're running a pool :) Though that's more a hand for the late callers to have with the better pot odds, whereas this guy was the first caller.

Bet sizing is difficult right off the flop just because of the 2 other callers making the flop pot big to begin with. He hasn't shown aggression yet, so maybe a blocking bet might still work?

well, he called PSB on the flop so obviously he has something, whether he's "slowplaying" or has a draw, its something. I think I would bet like 6 on the flop and def. slow down if he calls it. as played I think you def. check the turn, probably call up to a PSB and check/ re-evauluate river. If it goes check-check you can value bet the river depending on the card, i.e. draws brick off.

as played, that is a nasty river card, and if it was the deuce of hearts or some other brick, I'd say you should value shove the river, because if he had 2 pair or a set on the turn, not raising is criminal, but everything except the flush just got there, KQ, QJ, KJ, str8, all of which he is probably not folding. i'd check and hope it goes check/check but i think you definatley gotta muck it on this river if he makes any kinda decent bet. i guess if you had some kinda read that he could laydown a hand you could open shove river, knowing its a bluff, but this is generally bad with no read at a 50 NL table.

Ok, thanks for the replies guys, my immediate thought was a small block bet, and hoping to call a min-raise, but on thinking for all of 10 seconds i also figure that if i check hes gonna value bet me if he has hit, so i can call a relatively small bet.

Slowing down the turn would perhaps be better and going into check-call mode, but then again ill be giving that flush draw a free shot, i dont like it. Im still not convinced here that i played the hand all that well

Anyway i check, he checks, i win he mucked AJs for a busted flush deaw with a Jack.

I think you played the hand fine, it was just a sticky situation. I like a bigger turn bet to make KT+ and any draws pay to see a river, actually.

Anybody with a king is giving you action, and this board is getting dangerous, so I bet $15+ to get full value, and if I'm pushed into then just dump it (putting him on 99, 77 or KJ).
