I don't know Villain, he just sat at the table.

I screwed up and didn't raise 4th street. When Villain bets out on 6th, I wasn't sure how to interpret it, my flush is pretty obvious, but expected to be ahead of 2 pair and trips, so I raised.

Is that correct - in other words, he'd have to either be pretty dense to lead out into my flush without being able to beat a flush, bluffing (not likely at this limit), or buying a cheap showdown? Or is he basically never betting here without a better hand than a flush?

I dunno; maybe your 4th street play confused him? Or he has an Ace high heart flush which beats the K high that you're showing? Those two possibilities make me play the 6th street as you did, but I'm not much of a stud regular.

Cap 6th, even if he does have trip 8's, the jack is unlikely to give him a full house (since usually split 8's are played with another low card in the hole).

Raise 4th, 6th cap. Limit losses if he does have boat.

bbb, limit losses by capping 6th if he has a boat? I'm not folding the river ever, I don't think (esp since I goofed by not raising 4th, he may not put me on a flush as NL pointed out), so doesn't capping increase my loss if he has the boat?

Oi, I thought this hand was stud 8... Since its stud hi....

1) We can consider re-raising 3rd, especially if it allows us to get heads up and buys us some ways to win the pot (say, with a pair of aces).

2) Since villain sat through a bunch of jamming on 3rd, I'm less likely to put him on three 8's here.

3) Once villain 3-balls us, I'm still gonna jam 6th, since we've got an 8 down. But if villain donks the river after we jam, I'd give serious consideration to just calling.

Ack, misread hand. Didn't see you had the buried 8. My bad. Raise 4th, raise 6th.

Cap 4th and 6th. Even if he has a flush on 6th, he's unlikely to have you beat. Sure he could be boated, but you're missing value by not capping.

3,5,6,9 h all dead... seems like maybe 2 pr and flush draw.
