I am very, very new to PLO. I only have about 7k hands under my belt. I'm stilll getting the hang of it. That said, I know QQxx84ss is not a quality hand. I call because I can't help myself, and I am on the button and believe that it might help me on my uphill climb when playing with sub-par values. :rolleyes:

UTG+1: $1.45
UTG+2: $15.86
Hero [BTN]: $9.13

SB: $9.91
BB: $1.88
UTG: $4.52

Preflop Pot $0.07
Hero is dealt: :qd4: :qs4: :8h4: :4h4:

* UTG raises to $0.15, 1 fold, UTG+2 calls $0.15, Hero calls $0.15, 2 folds

Flop Pot $0.52
:2c4: :kh4: :3c4:

* UTG checks, UTG+2 checks, Hero checks

I considered betting here, after both other players showed some weakness. The board isn't exceptionally scary, and it could be hard for them to call with a naked club draw. But, I don't have much to fall back on if I get called. And, I have been attacking a lot of pots when they're checked to me on the button. I checked behind, to see if they still showed no interest on the turn. I won't be able to check it back again on a blank turn, if they both check.

Turn Pot $0.52
:2c4: :kh4: :3c4: :qh4:

* UTG bets $0.52, UTG+2 calls $0.52, Hero raises to $2.60, UTG calls $2.08, UTG+2 calls $2.08

Alright, this isn't a blank turn. I hit my set, and I pick up a weak heart draw (just in case I am up against KK). UTG leads out for a pot-sized bet. This card could have helped him, or he could have been hoping that I would bet the flop. UTG+2 calls, and I pot. With two flush draws out and the possible straight wraps, I'm charging full price to see the river. I don't mind getting called here, but it wouldn't have been bad to pick up this pot anyway.

River Pot $8.32
:2c4: :kh4: :3c4: :qh4: :10s4:

* UTG checks, UTG+2 checks, Hero ???

UTG has $1.77, UTG+2 has me covered, I have $6.38 left (~75% pot shove). Both flush draws missed, but the straights hit. Again, they check to me. Again, I worry that they are setting me up because I have a reputation at this table of firing repeatedly. Of course, they could both just be checking because they missed. I may be over-thinking their thought process.

Anyway, I am leaning towards checking this back here. I have strong showdown potential, and I can't really put either of the other two on worse hands that call if I shove. I feel like I am only getting called when I am beat, and everything worse folds anyway. About the only hand that I lose to that *might* fold would be J-9-x-x, and there's a good chance that hand might call to keep me honest.

1) You can set mine with queens on the button. Big sets make the nuts pretty often.
2) Shoving this river 3-way looks super strong. UTG+2 is almost certainly drawing, while UTG is probably a huge fish. I kinda want to bet $1.77 and fold to a shove from UTG+2. I'm not in love with it though, and checking back isn't terrible.

Caveat: PLO is my worst game in the 8 game rotation. I'm probably better at Badugi and 2-7NL as well, so it's pretty much the worst game I could be advising you on. Course, I've also played 10K+ hands of 8 game above $1/$2, so I'm probably ahead of most people on this forum.

I'd go for a thin value-bet for max 3$, folding to a shove by UTG+2, naturally.

I wouldn't oppose just checking this back, though.

I think my biggest problem is constantly worrying about being check-raised by the nuts. It causes me to hesitate. In fairness, I don't get check-raised all that much. I probably shouldn't worry about it, at least not if I am going to play hands that benefit from picking up some pots when nobody hits much of anything.

I definitely suffer from monsters-under-the-bed syndrome with PLO. I eventually got over that with NLHE, mostly because I got better at knowing what ranges people would be playing/betting and recognizing how small the portion of those ranges made the super-nuts.

AJ shoves river a lot, and you betting here looks super strong. 1/3 psb bet > check > shove. Pf is ok in position

Warning, spoilers.

I ended up checking behind. My three ladies were good enough to win.

UTG: :qc4: :jh4: :10h4: :10d4: (on turn: flush draw, pair, OESD)
On flop, had underpair.... would probably have folded

UTG+2: :ah4: :9h4: :5h4: :3d4: (on turn: nut flush draw, pair, gut-shot)
On flop, gutshot and junk pair... probably would have folded

I made more by not betting the flop, but it gives you an idea of why a free card can be so dangerous. This turn card appeared to help all of us. By my mental calculations, I was still 64% on the turn, mostly because we had nearly all the hearts in our respective hands.
