Table is not super-aggressive pre-flop, but it will almost certainly be multi-way even 5 handed like this. And, I'll be out of position with a hand that might flop ok, but will likely have no redraws and a lot of tricky turns and rivers. I elect to just fold it here. I probably would have raised this on the button, or called a raise from the button with it.

This is pretty standard for me. If it was single or double suited, I'm not folding.

See, 9875r doesn't seem "that" much better than 9874r to my newbie eyes. I guess it makes sense because the 4 is almost a complete dangler, and it is easier to hit one card (a 6) to fill a gap than two cards (6-5).

Would you play 9874 with a single or double suit here? I'm thinking that the double suit would be strong enough to open with. The single suit has my fish-brain urging, "limp, limp... see a flop for 1 bb." LOL

Yea a fold is standard here being in EP, Although I cant really fault raising and this is something i would raise from time to time. It doesnt play that badly.

On to the other discussion. While the 4 is a dangler, if it were a 5, your equity against a random hand would only improve by 1 to 1.5% which isnt inconsiderable but its not that massive a jump. If you had a suit you would increase your avg equity by 3% which is a bit more significant but also adds challenges in how your going to play your hand if your new to the game.
