hi all,
i started grinding 5NL 6 max on ftp recently... i think this is a leak in my game: unable to choose the correct flop to cbet.

villian stats are tracked for over 40hands and i think in sb position with my hand i could have stealed it and i faced a call to my preflop raise. do u think i should have looked for a better flop to cbet? i felt like i was being played back by cbetting on that flop. i was running 17/15 on that table.

I would put him on a medium PP. I might have check/called the flop and hoped to improve.

Wat da fack!?

Since this thread is void of decent feedback:

1) I just fold pre. 20/17's are not guys that are fun to play against out of position. They're typically better players and they understand the value of playing flops with position. They're not folding often and A8o is pretty crummy.

2) You're getting bluff-raised on this flop a lot. You can 3-bet the flop if you feel like the game dynamic/your read on him is such that he's seen enough of your play that he's ready to make a stand on this flop. You may have up to 10 outs (or be ahead) depending on your opponent's raising range. But typically, if you c-bet this board, you should just bet/fold. Check calling is so brutally criminal.

I summed it up in #1, but 20/17's are typically aggressive players. They're not going to fold to steals from the small blind, they're not going to fit/fold postflop, and they're going to essentially steal any small amount of EV this steal has.

I'm very selective when stealing in the SB against players who aren't nits, and I don't think its a leak at all.

what are you repping here when you c/r the flop? a good player would just re jam and then you'd have to fold like a pussy.

How is A8 junk HU?
Well what do you think his calling range is? 30%? We're behind preflop, and we're out of position, and he's not going to just give up and make our lives easy, and A8 also plays pretty poorly on most flops. So yeah, I like folding.

Good players play at any level. Just because they can't risk alot or don't wish to doesn't make them rubbish.

Any level 1 thinker who is thinking about card reading and repping hands on boards will bust you. Hey you can c/r if you want but I'm just trying to teach you something

honestly i think you are seriously overestimating how good a good player is at 5 NL. how many hands can you find at your stakes where someone 3-bet bluffed you when you had the goods? even if he calls with all pairs 22-TT, sets, straights I think he has a huge amount of air that he folds and 6x that we're slightly ahead of.

although i may be missing your larger point so (not being snarky here) please elaborate.
