$5 NLHE Heads-up: Strange river fold

Played a few hands HU against this guy waiting for the table to fill up.

Up until this point he had been folding a lot preflop and on the flop.

My feeling was that he was going for the flush (or maybe even the draw), but he folded the river.

Is this a spewy shove on the river ? Did I overplay this hand ?

It's very tough to analyze heads up without a huge number of hands to capture tendencies. As a general rule, him flatting the 3bet makes me want to put a ton of 8-Q cards in his range, maybe weak Aces and small pairs. When he calls down both times instead of shoving turn I'm putting him on a middling hand/bluff catcher, so shoves are probably +EV when so many draws come in.

You thought he was going for the flush, so why did you shove when the flush hit?

Why did you feel this way? Were there no other hands that might reasonably fit his sequence of actions?
