$5 NLHE Full Ring: TPTK picks up a nut FD on the turn vs a station, but the board has 4 to straight

UTG: $5.39
UTG+1: $5.00
MP: $6.63
CO: $1.44
Hero (BTN): $7.19
SB: $7.35
BB: $4.56

Pre Flop: ($0.07) Hero is BTN with 8 :diamond: A :diamond:
4 folds, Hero raises to $0.15, 1 fold, BB calls $0.10

Flop: ($0.32) 6  7 :diamond: 8 :spade: (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $0.32, BB calls $0.32

Turn: ($0.96) 9 :diamond: (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $0.48, BB requests TIME, BB raises to $2, Hero folds

Obviously I bet turn for value (so I can stack him if FD hits) and then hate myself :D

BB is 16 / 10 / 1.1 (18%) passive fishy guy who I know well from 2NL, 8.2k hands

1. Line check?

Fun fact: I see this guy as -10 bb/100 loser over 8.2k hands (OK I have been owning him hard but still) but he is now playing 16 tables (!!!) seven 5NL and nine 2NL. ****ing amazing.

Check/call turn if he bets 2/3 or less, you just priced yourself out of the flush draw by betting turn and getting raised.

i like your big cb as you have a value hand and theres a million draws out there. On the turn i would x back because the 9 completes a ton of those draws or makes him 2pr etc. If you bet here not much worse if going to call you. On the river hope you hit, id fold to a bet.

Also based on his passiveness from his preflop stats he probably has the nuts any time he raises like that.

Yeah but he chkraises like almost never, I thought he will nicely oblige by calling :p

Against unknowns, checking is better then?

Got it. I counted too much on the habit of 2NL players to jam the river and not turn :p

So what second best hands are you looking to call? He probably doesn't have two pair or a set based on the flop texture and flop action. If he does have either of those hands, you will still get value from them on the river, but it's unlikely you're going to get two streets of value from them. If he does have a straight, and you hit your flush, you're going to stack him. As played now you have to fold, although it's close. I think if he has another .50 or so in his stack you could call.

I am expecting him to just call with all his made hands since that is what he does and I expect to stack him if I hit the flush. At least this is how things went between us historically.

Anyway, I thought some more on this and especially his newfound multitabling capability. It is quite possible he gave the account over to someone in order to grind out a deposit bonus of something (even though that is hard to do in 2NL/5NL).

Otherwise I can't figure out how someone like him could possibly choose to multitable so heavily and not burn his brain out :D

There is a small chance he was simply unlucky in those 8.2k hands played against me (and I have been destroying him) but seriously I am not that good to account for his entire loss rate and the sample looks too big.

It turns out that while people in 2NL tend to fold a lot to potting, people in 5NL do not :D so potting is back on the menu if I actually have a hand (if not then I sometimes *gasp* even choose not to cbet, or cbet smaller).

If you're going to bet the turn, which isn't terrible, at least make it look like you're not scared of the straight.

Yeah this was pretty bad since my read on him was way off or he is actually improving his game.
