$5 NL HE Full Ring: Small overpair on paired board...
Context: I have been playing for a while against the villain, and he is a smart player, who very frequently bets from LP when folded to him. The hand just before this one, I landed TT in the BB when he raised in the CO, and I 3bet him, forcing him to fold. Then this hand comes up, and he bets again from the HJ; I have 77 in the SB, and decide to 3bet him again, as I think that he's on a steal thinking I won't 3bet him twice in a row. This time he smoothcalls (as I suspected he would, since he probably thinks I just re-stole from him, although I can't completely discount the possibility of a strong hand licking his chops).
The flop comes excellent for me as 664 two toned, giving me an overpair with a backdoor straight and flush draw. I decide to come in for a regular cbet, figuring he's likely to call and/or 3bet me with worse holdings, or possibly a hand like AK-Ax. Indeed he does 3bet; my question is do I fold or raise, and if I do raise, how much? I'm guessing I'm either way ahead, or way behind, but that he's likely to stack me with worse since I just re-stole. Then again, am I really willing to risk more chips here with a less than robust overpair, especially considering that he could very well have raised/called with 88 or better in this spot (although as I said, my hunch tells
me he's putting me on a steal here...) What are your thoughts? Hand is below, thanks in advance!
