It's possible he called your raise with Ax. It was probably a good decision to fold on the turn.

What made you decide to raise w/ that hand in the sb? I hope you have solid info on that villian telling you he limp/folds all the time or that he is extremely weak against c-bets.

J8s is a hand that I would generally raised OTB if there is one limper. These hands like J8s, K7s, low Axs etc I generally also raise from the SB if there has been a single limper. I dont have position but got just the one blind to get through and can outplay most at this level post flop. Perhaps some might say a little loose.

At the lowest level, you aren’t gonna get too many to fold even bottom pair. I would just limp there and keep the pot small. No need to build the pot with mediocre stuff when you know the chances of them laying it down aren’t great.

fwiw I don't mind raising limpers, even from the blinds, with ATC and J8s is certainly well within my range for doing so. What I don't like is cbetting this board. About the only thing it has going for it is that it's Ace high and decent Aces do make up a large part of our perceived range. The problems with it are all the draws/strong made hands that are out there. Lots of pair + draw combos that just aren't folding because you might have an Ace. So I like to ch/fold if he bets the flop and if he checks behind bet any turn even if it completes one of the draws since it might not be the one he had if he was indeed drawing.

Edit: I'd be doing this ATC iso more from the BB than the SB though. Folding this from the SB would my default.
