Full Tilt No-Limit Hold'em, $0.05 BB (9 handed) - Full-Tilt Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

They all seem to average around 16/8 with a steal of 20, no particular reads so far as I can remember!

UTG+1 ($2)
MP1 ($3.83)
MP2 ($4.45)
Hero (MP3) ($5.02)
CO ($8.24)
Button ($8.11)
SB ($2.69)
BB ($6.32)
UTG ($2.44)

Preflop: Hero is MP3 with A

4 folds, Hero bets $0.20, CO calls $0.20, 1 fold, SB calls $0.18, 1 fold

Pretty standard raise here from M-LP witha not too shabby hand. I get a couple of callers IP and OOP

Flop: ($0.65) 7

, A

, 4

(3 players)
SB bets $0.20, Hero raises to $0.82, 1 fold, SB calls $0.62

I get donked in to with a weak bet that suggests a straight or a flush draw. Think I raised a bout the pot size to see where I was and buy a free card for later. Obviously I fear AQ and AK.

Turn: ($2.29) 5

(2 players)
SB bets $1.67 (All-In), Hero calls $1.67

He shoves and I am getting about 2.4:1... What can I do but call?

River: ($5.63) K

(2 players, 1 all-in)

Total pot: $5.63 | Rake: $0.37

Can yuou guys suggest a way I could have played this better? I don't like the flat call for the flop as I don't like to give up the initiative but should I have kept the pot small by calling along? If he shoved on the turn I would have had to fold surely?

Thoughts?

Looks fine to me. I'm not folding top pair anywhere against a half stack.

call the flop for pot control. I understand that you ant to protect your hand against draws, but the type of player who would donk bet a draw in this situation is not going to fold a to a standard raise on the flop. After he calls the turn we still have no idea where he is at - could be and ace, a draw, or some kind of pp. Usually is you hit a flush on the turn after not being the aggressor on the prior street you would check to induce a bet, so it's unlikely he has a flush, but donkeys won't understand that logic so he could have a flush also. Personally I would fold the turn as his range here tend to be only flushes, two pairs or a pair and a flush draw.

Villain is a half stack. We do not control the pot size by calling the flop, because villain can easily get all in with a bet/bet/bet line.

This is a recuring theme. I REALLY need to start adjusting my play for different opponent stack sizes as its gonna be one of the first (only) reads I get for most RUSH villians!

Note to self:

CHECKING BEHIND IP FOR POT CONTROL IS POINTLESS IF VILLIAN IS ALREADY POT COMMITED

I think you played it okay, although when he shoves on the flop he is very likely to have that flush, so it is not that easy to call, he might have also picked up 2 pair with 45hearts or something, he could have hit a gutshot straight as well, or even hands like A5 are going to show up quite often.. i think i would probably play the same although i am not sure about the call to the shove
