(I was told to repost this here)

I think I way over play AKo here. I generally don't play AK as an all in pre :) , but I allowed this player to get to me a little. Not long before this (he hadn't been at table long, only 30 hands of history with him), he had raised from co, I three bet from button with AQo, he 4 bets me and I fold.

So now an orbit or two later (he had been pretty active), this happens:

My stats: vp19 pr13 (after 47 hands at this table)
Original MP raiser stats: vp14 pr9 after 37 hands
Villain's stats: vp23 pr13 (after 30 hands at this table. normal stats to me, so my perception of his excessive aggression was clearly wrong here).

9 Handed

Seat 1: zzz99888 ($1.71)
Seat 4: Wizard21 ($5.48)
Seat 5: tr33f1ddy ($10.82)

Button is seat 4

tr33f1ddy (me): posts small blind $0.02

*** HOLE CARDS ***

zzz99888 (mp): raises $0.10

Wizard21 (villian):dealt A♦A♣ raises $0.25

tr33f1ddy: dealt A♥K♣ raises $0.88

zzz99888: folds

Wizard21: raises $1.50

tr33f1ddy: raises all-in $9.92

Wizard21: calls all-in $3.73

*** SUMMARY ***
Pot: $10.56
Board: 7♣3♦2♦K♠9♥
Seat 4: Wizard21 won $10.56
Seat 5: tr33f1ddy lost -$5.48

Looking back at hand, I think I have two options: 1) Just call and see a flop since mp is still in the hand and he was the original raiser 2) Four bet smaller and fold to a five bet.

My hand seams too good to fold to the button 3bet, after thinking about this hand I think option 1, just calling is the best. Then fold to button's flop bet. If he checks and I hit a K on turn, that's another problem for me (but that didn't happen of course).

What do you think?

Seems tight but I would fold pre. As played, fold to 5-bet (which screams call me, don't think anyone 5-bet bluff like this at the micros). Calling and see a flop oop and without inititiative with ako is a losing play.

Hi, I agree with you on folding to his five bet. I think folding to his 5 bet is indeed the right play. In retrospect, without more hands history with both of these players, I think my four bet was a mistake also.

But if you're saying you would fold to villans smallish three bet from the button (it was only a 5x raise), then I think that option is way too nitty! Good players on the button raise and reraise with a wide range of hands. I know I do.

If someone min raises from mp at my table and I have a playable hand on the button, I'm three betting in that situatin a lot myself. It doesn't mean I'm at the top of my range. So I have no reason to believe villain is at the top of his range here.

Anyway, I think a flat of villain's three bet is the play since I'm out of position and the original mp raiser is still in the hand.

Thanks for your post!

Yes, you are right regarding button 3-betting range which should be wide ( and polarized) if he's a decent player. My answer to fold pre was probably incorrect for a typical cash game. I'm mostly grinding zoom and have little history on most players, without it, I tend to play nitty indeed. Well, regs on zoom are nitty! I often fold AK oop facing agression. But I would 4-bet light if it's warranted, some people apparently don't know I can see they are 3-betting 20% ;)

Small 3-bet are polarizing when bad players do it, most of the time it just means I have it. I'm always cautious postflop afterwards.

The Small sizing from MP doesn't scream strength though so he might 3-bet light indeed, but a normal 3-bet would be 35 cents here.
