$5 NL HE Full Ring: KK in SB busted (surprise!) when I shoved to loose villain w/ a pair

Villian Stats (VPIP/PFR/AF): 22/8/40

So here's my recent KK busted episode from down in the micro depths -- $5NL to be exact. I believe I played this hand fairly correctly, but tell me if I shouldn't have shoved, and if so when. The villain was somewhat loose-passive (22/8/40) so I figured he was a fish......

Total pot $9.65 | Rake $0.64
---------------------------------------

Anyhow, I pretty much put him on a pair, and maybe one with a draw (he did have a gutshot), but I don't think he should have called raises, especially preflop and in the flop. Should I have just shoved on the Flop instead?

In my opinion, I would have done the same if put in your position. Betting pot size on the flop indicates to villain that you are in a position of strength. But I guess he decided to call anyway because he had a gutshot to the straight.

Shoving on the flop would give the correct implied odds (correct me if I'm wrong here) and he would have shoved it in with you.

Look at it this way - you got all the money in with odds of 80:20 in your favour :)

Why is that? He would have needed one of the two J's or one of four 9's = 6 outs on the flop = ~3:1 to improve by the river. Confused.

If you shove flop pot will be around $5.60 and he'll have to call around $4. His outs are: 2xJ, 4x9, 3x8 = 9 outs = ~36% chance (probably slightly less than that as if the board pairs on the turn/river then he loses 3 outs) = 2.7:1 to win something 1.4:1.

Definitely no implied odds.

KK is a hand we all try to squeeze more profit from, shoving PF would not have accomplished that, but probably would have won you the blinds and limps.

With no Ace showing, I agree that you did your part right and the poker gawds snubbed you. That's all, nothing done wrong here..

There is nothing wrong with your play here.
You was just rivered.
He would call your bet anyway.
