Hero ?

Only 9 hands on this guy, but he's already 4 bet me once before (i folded). it's early days but his stats seem to indicate he could be a maniacal player. should i just go with JJ and hope for the best?

Only 9 hands is a really small sample, what were their stats if you have them?

Was the 4 bet last time a click back like this one? They might just be pushing the raise button in a drunken stupor but it's hard to tell with only 9 hands.

How many tables is villain playing at?

I probably look for a better spot if villains stats are around 40/20 and I shove if they are like 100/90.

You could flat here and play the hand in position, you are probably way better than villain at post flop decisions and it would lower the variance, rather than shoving pre flop and taking a 65% gamble against their random AXs.

guy was 60/40. i considered flatting but in the end i shoved and he turned over ATs so i at least got it in good i guess. my worry with flatting was what to do if the board came with one over like Kxx or Qxx i didn't really have a good plan with how to continue.

Being in position is what makes playing post flop possible, if an over card flops then we can keep the pot small by checking back or just calling a standard C-bet, we can just fold if villain goes nuts, remember we aren't truly sure that they are insane yet, 60/40 is bad, but 9 hands is nothing.

It turns out that villain is pretty horrible and JJ is great here. If they won the all in don't get disheartened, these players are an absolute gold mine and you are two seats to their left, so you will have position on them in most hands. Just reload and pray they don't leave.

good advice, thanks. i did win the showdown but i agree results aren't important the long run is what matters

Flatting or 5betting both are fine here. If we sense is fairly loose pre flop then a 5bet with jacks does makes sense for the reasons you mentioned like being unsure of the state of the hand when we see over cards on the flop and he will surely lead out out a cbet after 4betting us.

You can 5bet small here then play post flop. Even his 4bet sizing is ridiculously small so yeah well played.:D

Personally I'd flat and play it to try to make a set. I really don't see any reason at all to 5 bet (especially shove) and his opening raise was a minraise.

The danger of shoving is when he is holding those top 3 hands and surely we are underdog going for showdown.
