$5 NL HE Full Ring: Instead of choking on the river

I don't know if I played this correctly up to the river but I'm pretty sure I shouldn't have just checked there. I choke in these situations. This is rush poker so I had no read on the villain.

Opinions on possible moves on the river or otherwise much appreciated.

First of all raise it more preflop, more like 0.25 or even 0.30, the limper will call anything and your good against most of his range.

I would think he would reraise with the biggest hands.

After that I can only really see myself being scared of him slowplaying a set, (J8 would be strange but he could call that preflop with your range)

Not familiar with rush poker so there might be some stuff specific to rush poker that I might be missing. I think it was a good fold but not sure.

Raise more pre, bet more on every street. 1/2 the pot? even less on the turn? You are pricing him in and he is correct to call with alot of stuff.

You are 'never' folding him on the river btw

Raise to 20-25 cents pre-flop. raise 3x the blind + 1x for every limpers. Nobody's folding for 10 cents more into a pot of 27 cents if button folded, let alone making the call more justifying since button called to make the pot 37 cents.

It is best not to bluff in a multi-way pot unless you got position and everyone checked it to you.

Other than that, you made a standard correct laydown on the river. From the way this hand was played, I would check/fold on the river.

With your opinions in mind, I think I'm showing that I don't feel confident playing these cards on flop and turn. I understand that if I was going to bet there, I needed to be more aggressive?

I'm just getting the hang of raising pre-flop so thanks for the advice about making it larger and/or 3xbb + 1x every limper.

Pokerlovesme, you think I should have checked on the flop?

Yes. Check this article out. It'll give you the reason why and also, when to c-bet and not to c-bet.

If you don't cbet a 9 7 3 rainbow flop, when on earth are you going to cbet?

Yes, rainbow flop but this is a multi-way pot while not having the best position of 3 players. Did you even read the article I even posted? Good times to c-bet bluff on a multi-way pot is if you have position against them. Even if I'm called, I have position on any of them and makes it much easier to fire second barrels or control the pot. And don't forget your perceived range too. Many microstake players put their opponents on AK and call you down with many marginal hands(bottom pair, underpair, gutshot draw, etc). And also, microstake players have no concept of floating c-bets.

Here's another article I would like to post where they mention when the good spots for c-bets are. My earlier post was an article that taught when not to c-bet. This one will teach when to c-bet.
